The Zavvi ZBox is a monthly UK based geek subscription box. Occasionally, they release special extra boxes and this is what is being reviewed here.

The Doctor Who box promised to focus on the TARDIS and was made available at a higher price than normal, at £29.99 GBP (around $45 USD).

The special ZBox did arrive through Royal Mail in a much larger box than normal, although unfortunately there was no information card included with this limited edition. The advertising did state an exclusive T-Shirt and three further exclusive items.

As a Doctor Who fan, I had high hopes of finding some interesting and unusual items inside this one.

TARDIS T-Shirt (Exclusive)

I only know that this is an exclusive from the advertising – there was no information card or booklet included.

Not too impressed with this one. It just looks cheap with the white T-Shirt. But, I’ll still value this at the standard $10 USD.

TARDIS Funko POP! Vinyl

This is clearly the main item of the box.  It is now the largest POP! Vinyl I own (double the size of the rest) and really cool.

You can also open the doors and put the usual size Funkos inside (I have a few from this series from other boxes).

You can buy the TARDIS Funko POP! Vinyl on Amazon.com. These sell for much more than other POP!s in the series, I’ll use a typical price of $20 USD.

TARDIS Wristband

A cheap and nasty filler item. This may be an exclusive, but to me a $2 USD valuation is charitable.

Doctor Who Lanyard

Another filler item. I’ll use the $2 USD value again, as it’s just of no use or interest.

TARDIS Vinyl Sticker

And, yet another filler item. There is nothing I’d ever do with a sticker. $2 USD of value.

TARDIS Tin Of Mints

This is at least slightly more like it. It’s a very small tin, but it will be reusable once the mints are eaten.

The mints are shaped like tiny DW TARDIS logos. About Tic Tac size for comparison. Unfortunately, they are also quite nasty, with a menthol taste to them.

This presumably isn’t an exclusive as I’ve found similar tins for sale online. I’ll use a value of $5 USD (although I should really downgrade that for the poor quality of the contents).

And finally, a decent item.

I expect that this is an exclusive. There are lots of Doctor Who mugs available on Amazon.com, but I can’t see this exact one.

The prices for licensed mugs vary a lot, but I’ll use a midpoint value of $10 USD.

Box Review

This one is quite difficult to rate. The contents were better than many of the Zavvi ZBox offerings, but this was also presented as a premium priced product.

There have been several boxes with Doctor Who as its theme recently. Kewel Boxes used this as their debut theme and did a great job. Loot Crate also offered a special limited edition box, but this was priced too high to make UK shipping worthwhile, sold out quickly and didn’t get terrible good reviews. There were no duplicate items across any of these.

I make this $51 USD of value, which is very slightly above the cost price. However, there are also several items in here that I’d never have considered buying. It’s not even clear which the advertised exclusive items were. This was really missing one more decent value item to make it a worthwhile purchase.

With that said, I do like my TARDIS POP! Vinyl and my mug, but I could have picked up equivalents much cheaper elsewhere.

I’d recommend sticking with the standard monthly Zavvi ZBox. Not many companies are doing these special limited edition boxes right.
