Nerd Block is a well-established monthly geek subscription mystery box, which comes with a different theme each month, an exclusive T-Shirt and often other exclusive items.
The December 2015 theme was Star Wars, promising a variety of goods from across the franchise. An easy theme for boxes this month, but also a hard theme to stand out with.
The box arrived quickly in the UK after being sent from Canada. The standard price, including shipping to the UK, is $32.49 USD (£22 GBP). Discounts are available for longer subscriptions.
Box Contents
Star Wars Kylo Ren T-Shirt (Exclusive)
A great colourful design. The style is very similar to the T-Shirt in the December 2015 Sci-Fi Block.
Definitely one that I will wear.
I value these T-Shirts at $10 USD.
Unmasked Vader Funko POP! Vinyl
This looks like one of three possible Funko POP!s which were the main item in the box. Not one of my favourites, although this is a nice enough figure and looks like a recent release.
You can buy the Unmasked Vader Funko POP! on Amazon.com. These sell for around $10 USD.
Helmets Of The Dark Side Ice Cube Tray
I know that there have been ice cube trays in geek mystery boxes before, but I think that this is a first for me. Something useful and I like the designs too.
This was one of three different Star Wars themed ice cube trays available in the box.
There are lots of ice cube trays available on Amazon.com. I’m going to value this at a midpoint of $10 USD.
Blaster Keyring (Exclusive)
Sci-Fi Block had a ray gun. Nerd Block has a blaster. The ray gun was the better looking item.
They aren’t terrible filler items, but it would be difficult to value this at more than the standard of $2 USD.
Endor Mouse Mat
In this day and age, mouse mats have no value to me and I’m not too keen on the design either.
This was also one of three different designs that could have been in the box.
I’ll use my usual $2 USD valuation for things with no great utility.
Star Trek Movie Era Captain Rank Pin
This is nicely boxed and comes with a certificate of authenticity. It is actually based on the pin worn by Spock in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. This was billed as a special tribute to Leonard Nimoy, which explains why it was in a Star Wars box.
A good size and a nice collectible. These Star Trek pins start at $15 USD and go up from there. I’ll use that as the figure for calculating the box value.

Box Review
Some excellent items this month. I make that $49 USD of value, which is above the cost price. There are two low value items, but generally there’s been some effort put into the selection.
Even as someone who isn’t a particular Star Wars fan (happy to watch the films, but I don’t follow the wider universe like many others), there are recognisable characters and interesting items in here.
I really like the T-Shirt. This will go into my pile of top designs. Will be having some Star Wars ice cubes when the cold UK winter passes as well.
Nerd Block consistently makes an effort with their boxes. I don’t think that you can ever go too far wrong with a Nerd Block subscription.
