My Geek Box Review – May 2015

My Geek Box is one of the main subscription mystery boxes for geeks shipped from within the UK. They always bring an interesting collection of items, although unlike other boxes these aren’t clearly themed, so you get something of a surprise each month.

Unlike other boxes, there is also no information card with these, so there’s sometimes a bit of detective work required once the items are unpacked.

The standard monthly subscription price is £17.99 GBP (about $28 USD). International shipping is available and I’ve seen quite a few reviews from North America for a previous boxes, so I know that people are taking advantage of that option.

Box Contents

ReSpawn T-Shirt

ReSpawn is my best guess here. I’ve seen comments that this might relate to Minecraft, Halo or Titanfall (or something else entirely). Either way, it’s a great gamer design and good to see a multi-coloured shirt in a UK box.

I don’t think that this is an exclusive, but I can’t find this design online. I’ll value this at $10 USD.

Princess Daisy Mini Figure

I also can’t easily find this exact figure online, but value is about $5 USD.

Halo Mega Blocks

There’s something of a trend for Mega Blocks in the My Geek Box boxes. This sells for about $10 USD on Amazon.com.

Two Pieces Of Candy

Great to have this included, especially a Wonka item. Total value about $1 USD (although it would a lot more to get these items shipped to the UK).

Sonic The Hedgehog Stress Ball

These Sonic Stress Balls sell for around $7 USD on Amazon.com.

Box Review

Only four items this month (plus the candy, which was tasty). The Princess Daisy mini figure didn’t do anything for me, otherwise the items all had decent value to them.

The Sonic Stress Ball is my favourite of the items. This has good toughness to it and the design works well.

I also like the T-Shirt design, which will definitely be worn. This is one more case where having an information card in the box would really help.

Not a Halo player or a particular fan of mega blocks (some people must be as these keep being included), but these are highly priced items.

The total value of the box is $33 USD (likely to be more when postage and sourcing is included), so the total is appropriate compared to the $28 USD paid.

Overall, decent value, but I’d like to see one more item next month. Keep the candy selections coming!
