Loot Gaming has now released its second monthly box, posted towards the end of April 2016.

This is a new monthly addition to the Loot Crate series of boxes. As the box name suggests, the focus of this geek box is on gaming.

The box is styled very similar to other boxes in the Loot Crate family, with the Loot Gaming logo on the outside. The inside of the box is designed to reflect the box theme, which in this case was Metro. The box also contained a mini magazine with details of the items.

The monthly price for Loot Gaming, including shipping to the UK, is $34.95 USD (£25 GBP), which is a few dollars higher than the regular Loot Crate boxes. I suspect that these boxes are also produced in much smaller numbers, as this box sold out well before the shipping date.

Shipping to the UK took around a week from the release email, which is more reasonable than I’ve often found for Loot Crate boxes. Once this made it to the UK, this was delivered by Royal Mail.

Box Contents

Bioshock 2 T-Shirt (Exclusive)

This is a fun cityscape design, which I believe reflects the underground city in the game.

I always like T-Shirts with a black background and the simple colour scheme is effective here.

I value this T-Shirt at the standard price point I use for geek reviews of $10 USD.

Resident Evil S.T.A.R.S. Beanie (Exclusive)

Clothing items are all the range in the Loot Crate series of boxes right now and so it’s no surprise that this box has a second clothing item to go along with the T-Shirt.

This is a decent beanie in a dark blue.

Although this one is an exclusive, there are plenty of Resident Evil beanies available on Amazon.com.

Based on the similar items, I’ll assign a value of $14 USD.

Tom Clancy’s The Division USB Stick

This is a 16Gb USB stick, with the storage found in the detachable ammo clip.

This is the only item in the box not listed as an exclusive, but it’s hard to find online.

16Gb USB sticks are available on Amazon.com.

This comes in a nice metal tin, so I presume it carries more value than a standard USB stick. I’ll value this at $15 USD.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Watch (Exclusive)

If you push the centre of this watch, it lights up to show the time in red.

There have been a few watches similar to this in other boxes recently and this one is still pretty cool.

There are similar LED watches available on Amazon.com. As this is a branded gaming item, I’ll assign a higher end value of $10 USD.

Fallout 4 Metal Print (Exclusive)

This is a good print and the metal backing works really well.

It’s suitable colourful that it will work well as a small piece of art, even without knowledge of the game.

There are small holes in the corners, making this ready to mark.

You can see similar pieces of wall art on Amazon.com.

Based on the pricing of other items, I’ll value this at $15 USD.

Metro Pin (Exclusive)

This is a decent enough metal pin, in a round design. I won’t assign a value to it as it’s the promotional item.

The crate also came with an exclusive downloadable weapon skin for Tom Clancy’s The Division. Again, I won’t assign a value to this.

Box Review

Very good value with this box. I make that $64 USD, which is not far off double the cost price.

This is quite a hard one to value though, due to all the gaming franchise items, which are also promotional. However, these would be very collectible to fans of the game.

Although there are only five real items, none of them are really cheap, which is quite unusual in the geek box world. I particularly like the USB stick, which combines style and usefulness, and the wall print is the best display piece that I’ve had for a while.

My only slight disappointment is the focus on modern gaming (I find it difficult to think of Resident Evil as retro) and so it would be good to see more of this in future boxes.

If you’re a modern gamer, I think that you’ll enjoy Loot Gaming. There is a lot of potential here.
