Level Up is a companion subscription to the Loot Crate family, providing clothing items each month.

There are currently three Level Up subscriptions available. I’ve previously reviewed the first option, which provides two pairs of mystery socks. The subscription I’m reviewing here is for a Wearable, which Loot Crate defines as raglan, polo shirt, hoodie, hat, lounge wear or similar item. The final option provides two accessories, an option I’m not likely to review any time soon.

From next month, there will also be a fourth option of a T-Shirt (separate to that appearing in the main Loot Crate box).

All of the Level Up items are exclusives and they’re themed the same as the Loot Crate package. However, you don’t have to be a Loot Crate subscriber to purchase Level Up and the items are shipped separately.

This month, the theme was Galaxy, with some pretty heavy spoilers suggesting Star Wars items.

Shipping was haphazard, as is often the case with Loot Crate, with no shipping notification and the Wearable arriving after Loot Crate sent out its recap email. Thankfully, I managed to avoid the spoilers and so kept a bit of surprise.

The Wearable came in a large plastic bubble wrap style envelope, complete with the Loot Crate label and slightly too large to fit in a letter box.

All the items are themed the same as the main Loot Crate package, which this month had the intriguing theme of Time.

The socks arrived in plastic wrap and conveniently fit straight into my letter box. For consistency, I’ll continue to use the term box throughout this review.

Delivery took around two weeks from the shipping notification email (slow – but much faster than the regular monthly Loot Crate this time).

The monthly price for the Wearable, including UK shipping is $17.99 USD (£12 GBP).

Star Wars Lounge Pants (Exclusive)

This is going to be a relatively short review, as the Wearable contains only a single item (along with a small booklet with information about the items).

This month, the main item was an exclusive pair of Star Wars Lounge Pants.

In the UK, we’d call these Pyjama Bottoms, designed for sleeping in. Theoretically, you could wear these casually around the house as the material is strong enough, but the fly section is open.

These are 100% cotton and carry photos of various Star Wars ships.

I will wear these, but the big problem is the leg length is way too big for me. Thankfully, for pyjama bottoms, this doesn’t matter too much, but I guess that sizing for an international audience is difficult.

To give you an idea of value, here are a selection of Star Wars lounge pants available on Amazon.com. This design is better than many of those. A midpoint value of $25 USD seems reasonable.

Box Review

Being a one item box, this will either be a hit or miss depending on the choice of Wearable.

I rate this a hit. That does come with a misgiving about the sizing.

The $25 USD value is above the $18 USD cost price (in fact, I got a slight discount as part of a subscription bundle offer).

Level Up from Loot Crate is worth a try, particularly if you see a theme that interests you.
