Loot Crate Geek Box Review – March 2015

Loot Crate is one of the biggest and best established geek subscription boxes in the world, known for the exclusive items included within its monthly themed boxes.

The cost, including shipping to the UK, was $29.95 USD – roughly £20 GBP at the current exchange rate. Where this service really fell short was in the shipping time to the UK, taking over a month and with some US residents receiving their April 2015 box before the March 2015 box reached me. Such slow shipping times are not necessary, as other geek subscription boxes can get these shipped much faster – and at a similar price.

The shipping crate is very small compared to other boxes, containing carefully packed items. The monthly theme was “COVERT” and the items inside the box reflected well upon this.

Box Review

Despite the small size of the packaging I was impressed by this box. Plenty of items and lots to look at compared to the purchase price.

An excellent T-Shirt, very inspired within the COVERT theme. And, a good prop, although I didn’t manage to get into S.H.I.E.L.D. as a TV show

The other items are all quite fun and a change from the stuff often found inside these nerd style subscription boxes.

The Paracord is useful and I can see this doubling up to go on luggage for identification, as well as providing survival implements.

Despite that, I can’t recommend Loot Crate for the UK at present. The delivery time is just too long. A lot of the fun comes from opening these boxes and finding out what’s inside them and customers shouldn’t be put through such an ordeal to try and avoid spoilers for this length of time.

If you’re in the United States, or somewhere that Loot Crate can deliver too quickly, you’ll enjoy this box. Personally, I’m trying to vary which boxes I receive and for the time being I’m going to concentrate on those that can be received quickly.
