Horror Block is one of those boxes which I subscribe to periodically, but I missed quite a few boxes in the middle part of 2015.
The Grab Block offer, providing a selection of items left over from previous boxes and with the guarantee of a T-Shirt, looked like a good way for me to get my hands on some of the items that I’d missed – and reducing the chance of duplicates to a minimum.
I have reviewed a previous Horror Block Grab Block before, back in April 2015. There were some decent items there, including a film cell, but it wasn’t an absolute winner.
This Horror Block Grab Block came with high hopes, as Horror Block have really upped their game in recent months. And, this arrived in the standard Horror Block packaging with a heavy box – always a good sign. Delivery from Canada to the UK took around a week, although the box wasn’t sent until several weeks after the order went in.
With the discount offer, this Grab Block cost $22.49 USD (£15 GBP) including shipping to the UK – cheaper than the regular Horror Block.
Since this was a Grab Block, there was no information card received. This is also likely to have a very different set of items to other Grab Blocks sent around the same time.
Box Contents
Normal People Scare Me T-Shirt (Exclusive)
This came in the January 2015 Horror Block.
It is a colourful T-Shirt and references American Horror Story. I haven’t seen the show, but the quote is familiar from popular culture.
I value this at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer – Bloody Spike Titan Vinyl (Exclusive)
At first glance, I thought that this was a duplicate, as I received a Spike Vinyl in a previous box (July 2015 Nerd Block).
But, in fact this isn’t. This is Bloody Spike, which was an exclusive in the July 2015 Horror Block.
Both figures are actually the same mould, both 4.5″ tall, but this Spike comes in a white shirt and with blood splattered all over him. There’s also a cup of blood included in the box.
There are various Spike Titan Vinyls available on Amazon.com. Most are the 3″ versions or blind bag figures, along with the odd person selling the Horror Block and Nerd Block exclusives.
I value this the same as I valued the “non-bloody” Spike, at $15 USD.
Cthulhu On Board Car Sign
This is a car sign with suction, designed to be attached to a window. It originally came in the November 2014 Horror Block.
This isn’t something that I’d display, but it’s not too bad as a filler item.
I can’t find this exact sign online, so I’ll use my standard figure of $5 USD for value.
Lisa Burns and Louise Burns Signed Photo
This is a cool celebrity item, featuring the autograph from Lisa Burns and Louise Burns. They played the Grady Twins in classic film The Shining and originally came in the August 2015 Horror Block.
The photo carries the classic words “Come Play With Us” and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
Of course, both women have been rather out of the spotlight and are now approaching their half century, but this is still a cool item to own and one that takes up very little space in a geek mystery box.
I don’t believe that this was an official exclusive, but it will be a rare combination of photo and autographs. This type of thing is hard to value – there are some insane prices being asked for movie autographs. I’ll list this at a much more modest and realistic $10 USD.
Tales From The Cryptkeeper Myth Conceptions DVD
I have no recollection of this cartoon series, which apparently ran in the 1990s. Maybe it wasn’t shown in the UK.
This contains 8 episodes.
Amazon.com does offer a similar Tales From The Cryptkeeper DVD, although the cover is different and calls this “Myth Conception” instead of “Myth Conceptions”. It’s also 2 minutes different in duration.
I haven’t opened this to check if the episodes, but I suspect that they will. Many cartoon series get released with different packaging all the time.
I’ll value this the same, at $4 USD.
Bitten Paperback Book
The final item is Bitten, a paperback novel by Kelley Armstrong. This was originally packaged in the February 2015 Horror Block.
I always like receiving books in mystery boxes, although this looks like the first in a series and rather in the Twilight realm (a female werewolf story with romance).
This was originally published in 2001 and apparently has been made into a TV series (I haven’t seen it). Bitten is available on Amazon.com. That version has a different cover and sells for $9 USD, but reissues happen all the time with books.
This may even be an exclusive printing for the box (I’m always wary with books that don’t have a barcode printed on them).
I’ll put this on my pile of books to read when I get the time (which, when Kindle books are included, is pretty substantial).

Box Review
Some real winning items in the Horror Block Grab Block.
Very glad that I picked this one up. Looking at the collection of items, this is actually much better than most of the Horror Blocks that were shipped out.
This box also meets my preference of receiving both a book and a DVD.
I make that $53 of value – over $30 more than the shipped price. There’s only one real item that’s a duffer for me, and that’s the car sign.
Although I don’t know much about the DVD, I still enjoy cartoons from time to time. They’re quick and easy to watch. This will be fun to shove on the TV at some point.
I do value the autographs, the T-Shirt and the vinyl figure as well. Overall, a fine collection.
These Grab Blocks are a great opportunity to collect some of the more exclusive and better items, particularly for newer subscribers. Recommended!
