Loot Crate Level Up Bonus Sock Pack Review – January 2016

Published 19 February 2016·2 min read·4 min video

Loot Crate is still running. Current pricing is in the box directory.

The video loads only when you press play, so the page stays fast.

Level Up is a companion subscription to the Loot Crate family, providing clothing items each month.

This review is for a special Bonus Sock Pack, which gave two pairs of socks from previous Level Up socks.

This led to some confusion, which you’ll see in the unpacking video, as the package arrived at the same time as the regular Loot Crate Level Up package, with no obvious identification.

As a bonus item, this is difficult to price, but the standard price for the Level Up subscription, with two pairs of geeky socks included, is $12.99 USD (around £9 GBP). That includes postage to the UK.

The shipping speed for this one was disappointing, taking around a month for a small light item. The socks arrived in a printed plastic sleeve. As a bonus pack, there was no separate information card.

Box Contents

Captain America Socks

This is a good abstract design, including the traditional Captain America shield.

These originally came with the July 2015 Level Up and are a thick style of sport sock.

These don’t seem to be an exclusive.

There are lots of pairs of Captain America socks available on Amazon.com.

Selling prices vary, but I’ll go with $10 USD.

Pokemon Socks (Exclusive)

These are colourful socks, medium thickness, mostly acrylic. Not too much my style, so they’re probably be gifted.

These originally came in the September 2015 Level Up, where they were an exclusive.

You can find Pokemon socks on Amazon.com.

Like most geekie socks, these sell at a premium. The typical price for similar pairs is $10 USD.

Box Review

A decent enough package, particularly as a bonus (or rather as an additional incentive for buying more Level Up items).

The total value of $20 USD is above the usual Level Up price, although to be fair, I wouldn’t usually pay that price for socks, especially as I typically value T-Shirts at the same price.

Thankfully, I didn’t get any duplicate pairs from the single Level Up socks pack I’ve purchased in the past.

Where I was disappointed again was with the slow speed of delivery and it’s not clear why this small package wasn’t left directly in my letter box (as with the last sock package I ordered), rather than having to wait for this to be delivered.

This is a cheap, fun geek subscription package and I’m sure that I’ll occasionally get more Level Up socks in the future.
