For many years, they were a mainstay of the UK geek subscription box world, offering a variety of subscriptions, including one with wands primarily inspired by Harry Potter and associated universities.

I took the opportunity to purchase three mystery wands, enclosed in plastic wrap. They were all nicely boxed and presented. I can’t immediately tell you what the wands symbolise so I’ll keep this review short, but they all look the part.

Here are the three wands, all looking rather presentable. They’re made of a sturdy material, wood like, but really some form of plastic.

I think these would sell for $10 to $20 USD each individually.

It is a shame really that a lot of geek subscription boxes have closed down or just aren’t as visible as they used to be. A sign perhaps of the times and the economy.

Posts on this blog are much less frequent than they used to be as well.

I still think these boxes are a lot of fun to open and explore and I hope you’re enjoying them when you get chance.

Star Trek Ship

Quite a nice item, but I also received this in the June 2021 My Geek Box.

This is the Vahklas Starship. I’ll stick with the same value I used before of $15 USD.

Game of Thrones Candle

This is heavy!

It’s a candle, which could end up being useful in the event of a power cut. The logo look great too.

The selling price for these is around $12 USD.

Harry Potter Coin

This is a limited edition coin with a picture of Hermione Granger on it.

I’ve received Harry Potter coins before, but this one isn’t a duplicate.

I don’t tend to value these too highly unless they are very limited, so I’ll price this at $5 USD.

Game of Thrones Magnets

This is a decent set of fridge magnets. A duplicate item for me though as I received this in the September 2017 My Geek Box.

I’m sure I’ll find a friend who would like them.

My value assessment here is $8 USD.

Batman Batmobile

This is part of another very cool set of collectible items. My second in the series.

This is the car from Detective Comics #591. I love the retro styling.

Based on the price I established previously, this one goes for $15 USD.

Box Review

An excellent box! I get $55 USD of value, which is well above the cost price.

My favourite item is easily the Batmobile. A fabulous display piece.

The candle makes a nice change as well. The kind of thing I wouldn’t buy off-the-shelf, but which is good to receive.

I’ll forgive My Geek Box for the duplicate items, but they happen rather too frequently.

I continue to recommend My Geek Box. These boxes are really fun to unbox and there’s always an unusual item or two (after all, where else would I have picked up the Batmobile after its original run?).

This is a review of a special box they released for Black Friday 2020, complete with items from previous boxes. As such, this did not come with an information card. For extra confusion, it was packaged along with a Bam! Geek Box I ordered at the same time, so I have tried to separate this back out for review purposes. I haven’t had chance to write a review for the Geek version, but you can check out the included items on the video.

The price for the standard Bam! Gamer Box is $45 USD (£35 GBP). That includes shipping to the UK, making this one of the more expensive boxes.

The special box was even more expensive, at $50 USD (£40 GBP) including the share of postage. That did include the guarantee of three autographs and at least one Funko Pop! Vinyl.

Autographed Crash Bandicoot Tiny Tiger Funko Pop! Vinyl (Exclusive)

This is a repeat item for me, as I also received the Pop! in the first BAM! Gamer Box (back in July 2020). The first time I’ve ever had a duplicated autographed item!

This is autographed by Brandan O’Brien, the original voice of Crash Bandicoot and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

It is still cool to have this a second time.

Autographed Apex Legends Lifeline Funko Pop! Vinyl (Exclusive)

Here is the second Funko Pop! Vinyl in the box. It is Pop! Games #541, autographed by Mela Lee.

As best I can tell, this was in Bam! Gamer #2 (August 2020).

It’s always hard to know how much value an autograph adds. I’ll stick conservatively at $20 USD, but people are asking for a lot more money than that on auction sites.

Prop Replicas And Art Prints

Legend Of Zelda Hylian Shield (Exclusive)

This was also in the first Bam! Gamer box, so it is a duplicate for me.

It is a small shield, billed as a prop replica. A nice enough item.

I’ll again value this at $5 USD.

Overwatch Lucio-Ohs Cereal Box (Exclusive)

This is rather unique. A folded cereal box. A nice display piece if you make it into a box.

This was in the Bam Gamer #3, but it’s hard to find out much more about it than that. I presume it was the prop replica.

I’ll value this at $5 USD.

Battletoads Fan Art Print (Exclusive)

This is a cool design, signed by the artist in the corner. I got print #2200 of 2200, which has some rarity value to it as well.

This was originally in the second Bam! Gamer Box.

I’ll use my usual fan art value of $5 USD.

Assassins Creed Valhalla Fan Print (Exclusive)

This item came from the third Bam! Gamer Box. This one comes signed but not numbered.

I’ll value it again at $5 USD.

Dota 2 Signed Art Print (Exclusive)

This is signed by John Patrick Lowrie who provided various voices for Dota 2 and was originally in the third Bam! Gamer Box.

As this is a celebrity autograph, I’ll value this at $10 USD.

Resident Evil Badge And Pins

Resident Evil Raccoon City Cops Badge (Exclusive)

Another prop replica. This one came originally in the second Bam! Gamer Box.

It’s billed as a badge, but it’s pretty large, with a chain, with folder leather (or plastic) and a pin.

A fun item.

I’ll value this at $5 USD.

Punch Out Pin (Exclusive)

This is a nice enough pin. It is from the first Bam! Gamer box, but not a duplicate for me, as I got an upgraded pin in that box. So now I can add the main pin to my collection.

Nothing to get too excited about, but I do like the design.

Final Fantasy Cloud Pin (Exclusive)

This one is from the second Bam! Gamer box. Nicely presented as always.

I’ll value this at $2 USD.

Mario Kart Toad Pin (Exclusive)

Rounding off the pins, this one is from the third Bam! Gamer Box.

An instantly recognisable character, even to me.

Box Review

A very good selection of items. All of these came from the first three Bam! Gamer boxes and really covered the vast majority of items in those original boxes.

I get $81 USD of value, which is quite a bit above the cost price.

I rather picked this up on a whim as I’m not the biggest player of modern games. So it did take a lot of detective work to identify some of these items. It’s a pity there aren’t really any good archives of Bam! Gamer products online, so hopefully the information I’ve provided is useful.

I’m certainly glad I didn’t buy the first three boxes all separately as this route of getting the items has been much more cost effective, even if I missed out on the chance of upgraded items.

In terms of overall value, it is quite hard to good. There are two Funko Pop! Vinyls, which are always welcome. But the celebrities aren’t people I recognise. Then there is a lot of reliance on fan contributions.

Bam! Gamer is, as the name suggests, a good box for gamers. It is a bit obscure for me, but still something worth a dive into from time to time.

I’ve been building up something of a collection of these starships, which were originally part of a series from Eaglemoss.

This one really looks the part and is a fine edition to the collection.

Vahklas Starship

A second starship in the same box! I don’t know too much about this one, other than it was a Vulcan ship.

This is an Eaglemoss item, part of a collector’s bust series from the Batman Universe.

I don’t think I would collect this particular style of figure, but the Flash does work very well as a display piece.

Buzz Lightyear Keychain

This is a Toy Story 4 item. It is small and fills out the box, but I just don’t have enough keys for all of these.

I’ll value this at $5 USD.

Avengers Hulk Coin

This is part of a limited edition of only 1,000 collectible coins.

I do like the design, with has Hulk on one side and the Avengers logo on the back.

Not too much more to say about this one. I’ll value the coin at $5 USD.

Ewoks Wicket Coin

A second collectible coin. This Star Wars item is also part of a 1,000 item edition.

I’m less keen on this one than the other one, but it’s perfectly servicable.

This a box which you’ll like if you enjoy collectible coins.

There is one decent item in The Flash Bust, but otherwise this is made up of light filler items.

These are always fun to look inside. I got Robin, with the figure painted entirely in black and white.

Batmobile

Another collection, but I have to say this is one of the coolest items I’ve had for a while. I didn’t realise there were enough versions of the Batmobile to establish a whole series.

This one is billed at Batman: The Return #1. It is displayed well and I’ll be hanging onto it.

Star Wars Chubby Collectible Characters

These are duplicate items for me, as I received them in the August 2020 My Geek Box. Slightly disappointing, as there are 15 characters to collect and I received the same 3 as last time.

The value I have them then was $10 USD, so I’ll stick with the same value.

These come here in a large box and are aimed at children (5 years and up). The characters are in two halves, so you can take the top off them and stack them on one another.

Nicely made, but I can’t get too excited about them.

Toy Store 4 Woody Keychain

As Keychains go, this is a recognisable character, released by Hong Kong firm Hot Toys. But it is just a keychain.

There are lots of Toy Story 4 Woody Keychains available on Amazon.com. I can’t see this exact one, but I’ll use a lower end value of $5 USD.

Star Wars In Your Pocket Voice Keychain

Another keychain, but this one is a bit more interesting as you can push buttons and hear six different sounds, including The Imperial March.

This is released in the UK by Underground Toys.

These are widely available online for $7 USD, so that’s the value I’ll use.

The Star Trek Collectible Ship

Star Trek USS Horizon Daedalus Class Ship

This is a collectible ship, released by Eaglemoss. By far the most interesting item of the month.

Originally, these ships were released along with a collectible magazine as part of the Official Starship Collection. There are over 100 ships in the collection.

I last received one of these in a Zavvi Box. These are always nice to add to the collection.

I’ll stick with the value I’ve established for the starships of $15 USD.

Box Review

Not the most exciting box, but I do like the Star Trek ship.

The value I get is $37 USD, which is above the cost price, although it doesn’t seem that way.

To me, keychains are a disappointment, so putting two of these in a single box shows a lack of variety. But I know that a lot of people like receiving them.

One nice thing about My Geek Box is different people get different contents. So do check these out as you may be pleasantly surprised.

Pro Wrestling Crate. is one such box, containing a selection of interesting items, representing wrestlers both past and present.

These boxes used to come with a theme, but I don’t believe they do so now, just containing a selection of interesting wrestling items instead.

The main version of Pro Wrestling Crate comes with two T-Shirts and various other items, for $44 USD (£35 GBP), including shipping to the UK. There are also two smaller versions available for reduced prices. I picked this box up with a slight discount.

The December 2020 box arrived with me safely, with the UK leg of the delivery completed by Royal Mail. These come in quite a small box, but that is reflective of the type of items and autographs inside. The box does come with an information card.

An instantly recognisable print of the late wrestler, complete with his famous vibrant colours. This takes you right back to the early 1990s.

The Signed Photos

Lex Luger Signed Photo

The autographed photos in Pro Wrestling Crate come in an envelope, with a certified sticker in the corner.

Lex Luger is instantly recognisable, captured in his prime here. A great item to have.

I’ll use my standard wrestling autograph value of $10 USD.

TJP Signed Photo

This was billed as a bonus autograph, but to me it is an excellent choice to have included in the box. I’ve always liked watching TJP (or TJ Perkins) wrestle.

I’ll value this again at $10 USD.

The Smaller Items

Tatanka Micro Brawler (Exclusive)

Pro Wrestling Crate includes these little figures, which are all collectible.

I think this is a good likeness of Tatanka.

I’ll value this at $4 USD.

Behind The Merch Documentary DVD

This is an original DVD and it looks like an interesting watch. It is about the history of Pro Wrestling Tees, essentially the store behind Pro Wrestling Crate.

It is hard to value this as, although it’s original, the same film is available on YouTube. I guess it depends if you like having a physical version.

I’ll value this at $5 USD.

Pro Wrestling Tees Magnet (Exclusive)

It’s better than a sticker, but there isn’t really a value here, particularly as this arrived with a fold. This is destined for the bin.

Danhausen Pin

This is the wrestler in the crate I know the least about.

As usual with pins, there isn’t all that much I can say about it, but it is neatly presented.

I’ll value this at $2 USD.

Box Review

An excellent pro wrestling themed box. I found this one a lot of fun to look inside.

I get $51 USD of value, which is slightly above the cost price.

Two great autographs top the bill. The T-Shirts are decent too.

There isn’t much to say about the smaller items, but they round the box out nicely.

With this type of box, it depends a lot how much you like the wrestlers included. This box has a good selection of modern and older wrestlers. One I should pick up more often!

It retails for £51.99 GBP ($65 USD) on a month-by-month basis. That price includes shipping within the UK.

Zatu also offer a New Releases box, but that one is more expensive. This one is billed as containing some of the best games around, along with surprises.

The December 2020 box is the first one of this type I’ve ordered. It was shipped in late November to arrive right at the beginning of the month. There’s no information card provided. The items arrive in a standard cardboard box, with Zatu on the side and Zatu tape used to seal the box.

ShipShape Board Game

ShipShape is a 2019 game, designed by Rob Daviau and published by Calliope Games.

It is a short game (30 minutes), light in complexity and using a bidding system. The game has high production values and is rated 6.9 out 10 on BoardGameGeek.

This looks fun and I’m told it works well with three players, which not that many games do.

You can see ShipShape on Amazon.com. Based on that and the direct selling price on Zatu, I’ll value this at $27 USD.

Jetpack Joyride Board Game

This is a 20 minute game, suitable for both adults and children and based on a puzzle game originally released for mobile phones. It looks like the board game version was originally developed as a Kickstarter release in 2019. This is published by Lucky Duck Games.

The game involves fitting shapes in a grid and making paths, different to many other games. It comes in a small box.

The BoardGameGeek rating for this one is 6.8 out of 10. It looks more suited for a younger audience with limited replayability.

Cracker Games And Popcorn

Cracker Games – The Imp Box

This is more interesting and the type of product I’d probably have glossed over had it not been in a mystery box.

It’s a product from The Dark Imp firm, with six small games inside reusable Christmas cracker style packaging. The games are all simple and use the same pieces, but are designed to be played by families at Christmas.

Very fitting for the season and this could be fun.

I can’t see this discounted anywhere. I’ll value it at a healthy $25 USD.

Microwave Popcorn

This popcorn is branded by Big Potato Games. I’d have thought crisps (aka potato chips for North American readers) would have been more apt, but this is different. Nice packaging.

I don’t think I can assign a value here, but a little treat in a mystery box never goes amiss.

Box Review

This one is hard to review objectively. This is a good way to try out different games, but I’m really not convinced the value is there compared with just choosing games for yourself.

On the positive side, I get $72 USD of value, which just goes over the cost price. But that is really solely due to the Cracker Games, which are relatively expensive for what they are.

I do look forward to playing ShipShape. That looks fun and I like the fact the box has lighter games in it. But don’t expect to get new releases or award winners (there is a more expensive box type on offer for those).

There aren’t really many options for board game subscription boxes. I don’t see myself as a regular subscriber, but I may well try this again.

I like this type of box as everyone who buys tends to get different items. That makes the reviews and unboxing videos much more interesting.

Geek Gear is usually one of the more expensive offers to subscribe to. You’re looking at £29.49 GBP, including postage within the UK (that’s $37 USD) before any discount offers. This special box cost £17 GBP ($21 USD) during a discounted period.

As this was a unique box, it didn’t come with an information sheet, but it did include many exclusive items.

Lady Justice T-Shirt

This is black T-Shirt stock with a red print. The design is good, but there’s probably a reason why this is part of a geek interest box which is lost on me.

I’ll value this at $10 USD, my usual figure for T-Shirts.

Captain America HYDRA Banner

This is a banner with the holes to hang it from.

My best guess here is this is inspired by HYDRA, but the design is slightly different, possible for copyright reasons.

A nice enough item, although not one that I would display.

I’ll value this at $5 USD.

The Legend of Zelda Poster

This is a wide poster with high quality artwork, probably made exclusively for Geek Gear. You get coloured versions of the characters on the left, golden versions on the right.

I’ll value this at $4 USD.

Notebook Print And Minecraft Dagger

Transformers A5 Notebook

Notebooks are always useful and this one is high quality.

It has yellow paper and a catch to hold the front closed. It’s made by Pyramid in the UK and is an official licenced item.

This is a nice, but also subtle, notebook for meetings. It will get used.

I’ll value this at $5 USD.

How To Train Your Dragon Print

This has a Geek Gear Licenced Exclusive badge on the front.

It’s A4 size and comes on card to keep it flat.

It doesn’t terribly excite me, but it’s decent enough as prints go.

I’ll use a value of $2 USD here.

Minecraft Dagger

This is quite cute (if weapons can be called cute) and rather different to the norm.

It’s made (I believe) of rubber. Surprisingly solid and it could hurt if you got hit with it, but no danger of cuts.

I don’t know how to value an item like this, but I’ll go for $3 USD.

DoomHammer Goron Mask And Lancer Rifle

World Of Warcraft DoomHammer

This is a best guess, as there are various types of Hammers listed online for World of Warcraft, but they look pretty like this one.

I’m not sure what it’s made of. Probably vinyl or plastic of some kind. Pretty heavy.

Another rather cute weapon. And something quite different to in most geek boxes.

I’ll value this one at the random worth of $5 USD.

Zelda Goron Mask

Another best guess. This is rather unique, a clay (or clay style) face mask replica, only in a small size.

I like the idea behind it. I’m not too fussed about the design. But putting that to one side, it will display well for people.

I’ll value this at $5 USD.

Gears Of War Lancer Rifle Replica

A final weapon and the final item. This is a replica of a game rifle.

Small, metallic, with hints of blue.

Nice enough. If nothing else, it’s quirky enough to leave lying around or to use as a paperweight.

Something about receiving a non-English key ring suddenly makes this seem so much more interesting. Don’t ask me why!

If you want to see when, I’ve had this in the December 2017 Bonus Loot Crate, the August 2019 My Geek Box and the October 2020 My Geek Box. Yes, three times in My Geek Box alone! Still, never twice in the same year.

For consistency, I’ll continue to value this at $10 USD.

Deadrising Multi Tool

Now, this is the kind of item I could get excited about…

I say could… as I only received it last month in the January 2021 My Geek Box!

Now, on the positive side, this one is genuinely useful, so I could very easily give this away as a present. It is a multi tool, so you can have a screwdriver, pen knife and other items all at hand in a compact tool.

This is actually the third time I’ve received this, as it was also in the October 2018 Zavvi ZBox.

For the value assessment, I’ll stick at $4 USD.

Fallout Pennant And Star Wars Necklace

This unrolls into a triangular banner.

I have had other pennants in this series before with My Geek Box, but not the Fallout one.

It isn’t to my taste, but there is some value here. I’ll assign this at $9 USD.

Star Wars Japor Snippet Necklace

This is a nicely boxed item, which also comes in an internal bag. It is produced by Tomato Source Ltd in the UK. It is an official Disney item.

You can see a similar Japor Snipper Necklace on Amazon.com, but that one is made by a different company and is in a differently styled box.

This one is hard to value as I’m struggling to find this version online. There are other similar necklaces. I’m going to go with $15 USD.

Medal Of Yavin And Trading Cards

Star Wars Medal Of Yavin

Another official item made by Tomato Source Ltd. Again, it is neatly boxed.

Despite what the name suggests, it is a pin, with a printed ribbon on the box it’s attached to. I’m not much of a fan of pins, but this one is decent.

For the value, I’m going with $10 USD.

Gerry Anderson Trading Cards

A really cool item! This is a full set of 66 trading cards, originally released in 1993. They came in a plastic bag and cover Thunderbirds, Stingray, and Captain Scarlet.

Originally, you would have purchased these in mystery packs and tried to collect together the full selection.

I’m not sure what the story is behind these, but I believe they are new.

They do seem quite readily available from a few sources. As such, I’ll value them at $10 USD, but I do think this is the best My Geek Box item I’ve had for quite a while!

Box Review

The most interesting My Geek Box I’ve had for quite a while.

I get $58 USD of value, which is double the cost price. Now, the box has the same problem My Geek Box often has – of duplicate items. And really there’s no excuse for sending the same item two months in a row. But the other items make up for it.

I love the trading cards. So interesting to have, to look at the photos and read the facts.

The Star Wars items are a lot of fun too.

I’m keen to see what is in the next My Geek Box. They have access to a lot of very good and unusual items. I never thought I’d say this, but the return of a T-Shirt to the box would be nice!

Being a bonus box, its hard to equate a value here, but as a comparison the normal price for Geek Fuel, including shipping to the UK is $44 USD (£35 GBP) with a month-by-month subscription. That’s quite a lot for a geek box subscription, so I looked at the bonus box as giving me more of a reason to check out Geek Fuel again.

Being that this was a bonus box, there was no information card included.

I presume this one was an exclusive originally (it’s marked as Geek Fuel on the label).

I like this! A soft blue shirt with a fun design. Very ready to wear.

I’ll value this as normal at $10 USD.

Pinky And The Brain Q-Fig

This a cool display figure, which comes in a rather large box. It’s part of the Q-Fig Toons series.

It’s marked Taking Over The World.

I’ve seen reviews saying to display this one as it makes a good talking point and I agree.

I’ll value this at $15 USD.

Transformers Keshi Surprise Mystery Boxes

These small mystery boxes are always fun. They each contain a figure and a sticker.

It looks like there are four different coloured boxes to choose from, then six figures to collect in each colour.

I’ll value these at $5 USD each, so $10 USD as I got two of them.

Rugrats Notebooks

Three pocket notebooks. These are always handy to have and this is an official Nickolodeon item.

Box Review

A nice collection of items. I get $45 USD of value, which is right on the money had this been a real box and not a bonus box.

Now, I’m not sure I’d have paid for all this separately. but nothing to complain about. Lots of fun items here.

I like the T-Shirt and the Q-Fig. The mystery boxes are fun. And the notebooks always come in handy and fit nicely in a pocket.

Based on my recent experience, Geek Fuel is always worth a look!

This is the April 2019 box, with the theme Versus.

The box for this one is smaller than many, but the contents were tightly packed. There is an information sheet inside as well, although this is in French!

The subscription price for having to Wootbox delivered to the UK has recently been £27 GBP ($34 USD) including postage. However, at the time of writing the review, UK shipments are currently on pause, possibly due to Brexit. I’ve left links in the review so you can check this out and see if these have resumed.

A nice simple design, black stock with white, red and purple print. I do like these designs that don’t stand out too much.

This is an official Blizzard item.

I’ll value this at my usual T-Shirt price of $10 USD.

One Punch Man Blind Bag Backpack Hanger

This is a Japanese manga series which has since been made into Anime. I don’t too much about it.

The character inside the mystery bag can be hung off a backpack. I guess you could also put it on a keyring but it would be a bit big.

I got what I presume is the main character in a blue tracksuit.

A fun enough item. I’ll value this at $5 USD.

Pokemon Mug

A nicely boxed mug. Very presentable.

Iron Man Funko And Fight Club Pin

Iron Man Funko Pop! Vinyl

This was one of several possible Funko Pop! Vinyls that might have been in the box.

Iron Man is cool looking, with this version coming from the Avengers movie. It is Funko #467.

I believe this one started as a special edition, although there’s no indication on the box.

Fight Club Pin

Like many other boxes, this one comes with a monthly pin.

It doesn’t do much for me, but it’s a decent enough example of the type. I’ll assign a token value of $1 USD.

Box Review

A cool selection of items here.

I get $41 USD of value, which is pretty decent for a geek box (and a great deal for me as I picked this up at a discount). At full price, it wouldn’t be much of a saving, but if you’re in a country with lower shipping costs, you’ll get a better deal.

There are three items in the box with real value, the mug, the T-Shirt and the cool Pop! Now, I can’t guarantee you’ll get these every time as I chose the past box based on the previews, but this one certainly worked for me.

I hope to pick up an up-to-date Wootbox when that options become available again.

The My Geek Box for January 2021 arrived with me rather late, following complications with Royal Mail’s attempt at offering a paid service for forwarding on mail. With that said, I’m glad that this box from The Hut Group did make it to me, as not all do.

This is a long-standing geek box from a UK company. As best I can tell, the boxes can differ a lot from subscriber to subscriber, so that does make these interesting to look inside. There is no information card provided.

Spider-Gwen Mini Heroes Figure

I like the Mini Heroes line of display pieces. And Spider-Gwen is a small but striking display piece.

I suspect I’d like this more if I hadn’t already received it in the December 2019 My Geek Box.

I’ll value this at $10 USD.

Thanos Mini Heroes Figure

A second Mini Heroes. Thankfully, this one is new to me.

Another good design from this range. It would display well.

I’ll value this one at $10 USD.

Harry Potter Hermione Eraser

A useful enough item, although I’d probably like it more if it hadn’t been in the June 2020 My Geek Box.

I’ll stick with the value I used previously of $3 USD.

Multi Tool And Collectible Coin

On the plus side, this is a very useful item. Like a swiss army knife, but without the branding. It even comes in a little bag.

It was originally a Loot Crate item. I didn’t receive it in Loot Crate, but unfortunately it is a duplicate for me as I have received it in the October 2018 Zavvi ZBox.

I’ll stick with the value I assigned previously of $4 USD.

Rick And Morty Mr Meeseeks Collectible Coin

I’ve had a few of these Rick and Morty Collectible Coins recently. This is another fun design.

It is billed as the My Geek Box Comicon variant 2.

The biggest downside. I also received a Mr Meeseeks coin in the September 2019 My Geek Box.

I think it is the same as before, but I would have to dig the old one out to see if there’s a subtle variant difference.

Regardless, I’ll use my standard valuation here of $5 USD.

Box Review

It’s a decent box, but at the risk of sounding repetitive, the items are repetitive to me.

I get $32 USD of value, which is slightly above the cost price.

It’s hard to get excited when four of the five items are duplicates, three of them from My Geek Box, the other from Zavvi (which is part of the same parent company, The Hut Group).

If these were new to me, I think I’d have quite liked the box. Two decent figures, some fun small items and a useful multi-tool. So the thought is there.

But ultimately, the duplicate items are a problem. I do like My Geek Box, but this one is quite a lucky dip.

The box arrived smoothly in the UK from the United States in its red packaging. The normal price for Geek Fuel, including shipping to the UK is $44 USD (£35 GBP) with a month-by-month subscription. That’s a much increased price of when I last reviewed this, although I believe they put more in the boxes now.

Although this was the box released in late November, it was largely Christmas themed, presumably to reflect when it would arrive with subscribers (but arrived too late in the UK for that to really count).

I don’t think there was an official theme recorded, but this did come with an information card that looked like a Christmas card, which was rather cool.

Don’t wear this T-Shirt after midnight!

This is like a movie theatre and winter themed T-Shirt. Completely unofficial, I suspect.

The design is a bit limiting as to what time of year you can wear it. Nothing wrong with it, but it doesn’t do much for me.

I’ll value this at $10 USD, my common T-Shirt price point.

Popcorn Kit

This is fun enough. Microwave popcorn, 3D glasses and a fake ticket to see Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

I’ve eaten the popcorn. It hit the spot.

Okay, popcorn is a cheap store item, but there’s been a bit of thought gone into this. I’ll value the set at $5 USD.

The Harry Potter Snow Globe

This is one of those mystery boxes, where there is one of eight possible Harry Potter themed snow globes in a box.

I got Ron Weasley, complete with golden snow.

Surprisingly, there’s more than one producer of this type of Harry Potter snow globe. The one I got is from Paladone, a firm I’m much more used to seeing in UK based geek boxes.

The Die Hard Christmas Book

This is an odd item. It’s a Die Hard book inside a plastic case.

It looks like a children’s picture book, only with more adult content.

I’m not sure what makes this an exclusive, but I expect it is the packaging (and, from previous experience, it may be different size to the original).

The package also contains a (very small) gift bag.

I’ll value this at $8 USD.

There is good value here, but this was a bit too holiday themed for my taste.

I get $39 USD of value, which is slightly below the cost price. I do like the snow globe, but I don’t love the items as a whole.

The book is a decent fun item. From looking at reviews of the original version, people either love or hate the idea of it. The other items are a bit limiting.

I may pick Geek Fuel up again when there’s an offer on, but I wouldn’t get this every month. It may be better value if you’re based in the US and the postage costs are at a lot lower.

This arrived a few days later through Royal Mail and in a much larger box than the regular monthly Zavvi ZBox. A decent amount of weight to it as well.

Zavvi do offer a standard box every month. The pricing for that one, paid on a recurring monthly basis, is £19.99 GBP ($25 USD).

This larger Black Friday box cost £32 GBP ($40 USD) including postage.

This box didn’t come with an information card. I don’t know if everyone buying this got the same or different items.

This is first of not one, not two, but three Funko Pop! Vinyls inside the box.

This one isn’t really a favourite of mine, but it looks the part.

X-Men Colossus Funko Pop! Vinyl

A really nice design for this Funko. This is #316, just 2 higher than the Cable Pop! Vinyl.

A good addition to the collection, which could fit equally well with Deadpool.

A complete change of franchise for the third Funko Pop! Vinyl, to move across to Harry Potter fandom.

The design is good, but this isn’t one that really interests me all that much. The value assessment is $10 USD.

The Kingdom Hearts Figures

Kingdom Hearts Shadow And Soldier Figures

A different type of figure now, with the first of two packages from Disney’s Kingdom Hearts.

This is apparently a video game series using Disney characters. There are two figures here, both small compared to the amount of packaging used.

This series doesn’t do a lot for me, but these ones are reassuringly expensive. I’ll value them at $15 USD.

Kingdom Hearts Mickey Mouse Figure

Also from Kingdom Hearts comes the instantly recognisable Mickey Mouse. Only a single figure, but much larger than Shadow and Soldier.

The figure comes with some kind of staff or other magic device. Or maybe it’s a sceptre as I read he’s King Mickey (I’m not too familiar with this franchise).

This one isn’t the easiest to find on sale through major sites. Lots available through auction sites. I’ll value this at a consistent price of $15 USD.

Star Trek Batman And Fallout

Star Trek Xindi-Retillian Warship

The box for this doesn’t say very much about it, but by process of elimination I’ve worked out this is by Eaglemoss.

Apparently, this is from the Star Trek Enterprise episode Raijin. Originally, this would also have come with a magazine (issue #81 in this case).

It has a stand with it and should display well on a shelf.

This is a curiosity and hard to value as a stand-alone item. I’ll go with $15 USD here.

Batman Black And White Blind Bag

A collectible figure in a larger bag than many of these mystery figures.

This one is part of the third series of these figures. You can see the Batman Black and White Figures on Amazon.com.

All the figures are Batman variants which is quite unusual. There are no other supporting characters from the range.

I value this one at $5 USD.

Fallout Key Ring

A fun enough official little item. That will fit straight on a key chain.

I’ll value this at $2 USD.

The Batmobile And Harry Potter Notebooks

The second Batman item in the box and it’s a rather cool one.

It’s a nicely boxed display piece of the Batmobile from Detective Comics #400. It’s another Eaglemoss item and originally came with a magazine.

I think this is my favourite item of the month. I’ll value this at $15 USD.

Harry Potter Notebooks

Three small softback notebooks. These are all Harry Potter themed and will fit straight in a pocket, so they are very handy.

They come neatly packaged and bound in string, so they would make a nice gift as well.

I’ll value these at $5 USD.

Box Review

An excellent Black Friday box from Zavvi. One of their best ever.

It’s always unusual not to have a T-Shirt in the box, but the contents didn’t feel like a let down.

I get $92 USD of value here, which is huge for a geek box, especially as there are no junk items.

Now, that isn’t to say everything is to my taste, but there are some decent figures inside, some good display pieces and I’m really impressed by the Batmobile. Not something I’d ever considered collecting before, but this one looks the part.

The Zavvi ZBox is a UK long standing geek box. Do take a look at what Zavvi are offering and you might get cool items like these inside.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Donatello Eekeez

I find Eekeez quite a fun range of figurines to collect. There have been quite a few of these in My Geek Box recently.

They are made of resin and hand painted, giving them a grainy (and slightly scary) feel.

Donatello is instantly recognisable and this is a good item to have had included. This goes nicely with Leonardo, who I received in the May 2020 My Geek Box.

I’ll value this at $10 USD.

Jessica Jones Q-Fig

This is a nice enough model. A larger box than most.

I would like it more if I hadn’t already received it twice before. Once in a December 2017 Bonus Loot Crate, once in the August 2019 My Geek Box. At one point, this was billed as a Loot Crate exclusive.

I’ll stick with my standard value for items like this of $10 USD.

Rambo Necklace And Collectible Coin

This is a bit different. It’s based on the Buddha necklace worn in the film.

It is a limited edition of only 9995 of these produced, made by Fanattik. Mine is number 1058.

Rick And Morty Squanchy Collectible Coin

Rick and Morty coins have been included in My Geek Box quite often too. This one is also made by Fanattik and is the third coin of this type I’ve received.

Not too much to say about this. It is just a coin after all.

An interesting selection of items in this October 2020 My Geek Box.

I’ve get $35 USD of value, which is slightly above the cost price.

It is disappointing to get a duplicate item, but that happens. I do like the Eekeez and having the necklace is a nice change, even if I can’t imagine ever wearing it.

No T-Shirt this time around.

Overall this is a decent box with no really cheap looking items. Do take a look if you’re a UK geek box fan.

Spongebob Squarepants Gary Eekeez

These Eekeez figures have been featured a lot in My Geek Box. This is a fun figure of a popular character.

Of interest perhaps? The front of the box says this is resin, but I’ve mostly seen (or at least thought) these were made out of wood. Perhaps it varies?

This one looks rather scary, but that’s a side effect of how they are painted.

I’ll value this at $10 USD.

Elder Scrolls Pennant

This is a fun item, designed to show you flying the flag for this popular gaming title.

The big problem? I received this just last month in the August 2020 My Geek Box.

This doesn’t have great value to me anyway. I’ll stick with the same value as last time at $5 USD.

Funko Pop And Collectible Coin

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Trini Funko Pop! Vinyl

The first time I’ve had a Funko Pop! Vinyl in a My Geek Box for quite some time. Great to see one, as these are surely the most popular line of collectable geek figures in the world?

Trini looks the part. This is #674 in the range.

Rick And Morty Evil Morty Collectible Coin

There used to be a lot of these coins in My Geek Box, but this is the first one I’ve received for a while.

I’m not sure these are really that valuable but people like them. They are hard to find online now. I’ll stick with the value I’ve used before of $5 USD.

Good to see a Funko Pop! Vinyl in My Geek Box.

I get $29 USD of value, which is bang on the cost price.

I don’t think this is up there with the value of recent months. It’s always disappointing to get a duplicate item. But there is plenty of stuff in here to interest collectors.

I miss not getting a T-Shirt. Hopefully that will return next time as the commercial T-Shirts from My Geek Box are always good.

But overall, My Geek Box is more hit than miss. Always worth a look if you’re a UK based subscriber.

Repair Magic Trick

This comes in a DVD size case, containing an instructional DVD and other items needed to make the magic happen. This is the classic torn and restored card trick.

The trick is from Juan Capilla.

The reviews of this one are not great and you need to supply your own playing cards. But the selling price is high and I’ll use that to give a value of $30 USD.

Steve Rowe’s Supa Chupa Scoopa Lolly Trick

This comes in a thin package, essentially containing the components to make the trick work, including a special playing card (you need to supply the rest of the pack yourself).

The effect is to swap the logo from a lollipop with the contents of a playing card. Pretty fun.

Based on the selling prices, I’ll value this at $20 USD.

The Power Of Love Magic Trick

This is a packaged item by David Regal that consists of a packet of cards and other items necessary for the trick to work.

It has a fun effect where spectators end up seeing hearts. Love had prevailed.

To me, this isn’t the most exciting item, but it is reassuringly expensive. I’ll value this at $20 USD.

Playing Cards And Sweets

This is part of a limited edition set of premium playing cards. designed in such a way to help magic tricks to work. You can read more elsewhere, but I’m not here to give away the secrets.

These ones are high quality and I’ll value them at $15 USD.

Drumsticks Squashies Sweets

I won’t assign a value to these, but it’s nice to have a little treat like this inside the box.

A selection of magic tricks with value far beyond the mystery box.

Based on selling price alone, there is $85 USD of value here, well above the cost price.

Where it is disappointing is that these are all card tricks. More variety would have been nice. But still, this is a good way to cheaply explore different ideas.

Like many mystery boxes, this is of interest to a limited audience, but if you want to explore magic and aren’t bothered about the latest tricks being included, the Merchant of Magic Mystery Box is the way to go.
