The Zavvi ZBox is usually a high quality box produced within the UK.
I got the opportunity to pick up one of their Lucky Dip ZBoxes, priced at a bargain £10 GBP ($15 USD) including postage and promising a selection of remainder items from previous boxes.
Although I’ve purchased a few previous boxes, there are a lot I hadn’t got, so I thought this would be a good way to receive a few more items.
Unfortunately, this didn’t start well. Despite buying on 2 June, with the Lucky Dip ZBox marked as being for “immediate dispatch” on the website, I got several out of stock notices and this was eventually sent on 20 June. After that point, delivery was swift.
However, emails saying that stock had to be ordered in did rather make a mockery of this being a limited edition, or being made up of overstock items.
As it was, the final box was a massive disappointment, even for the reduced price point. Nearly everything came from the recent Animation box (including box itself). No information card, of course, but I’ve already reviewed most of the items before and so have the information.
Box Contents
Transformers Stress Ball – Bumblebee
This was one of two stress balls in the April 2015 box. Last time I got Optimus Prime, so it’s good to complete the collection with Bumblebee.
Bumblee sells for $14 USD on Amazon.com, although this is UK made and you can buy this cheaper within the UK.
South Park Fridge Magnet
This is a ZBox exclusive which came in the April 2015 box. It is a duplicate, but I’ll have no problems finding friends to give the duplicate to.
As last time, I’ll value this at $5 USD.
Thundercats Lenticular Postcard
This is yet another item from the April 2015 box.
It’s an exclusive and rather fun, but there’s not much I can do with a duplicate.
I’ll keep the value at $5 USD as before.
Spider-man Silver Scaler
This came in the May 2015 box and was an exclusive item.
As before, I’ve valued this at $5 USD.
Shadows Of Mordor Mouse Mat
This is by far the most interesting in the box. It has red liquid included in the mouse mat, which moves to look like blood spilling.
However, I can’t find any evidence that this has ever been in a previous ZBox. Zavvi sell these separately on their site for £2 GBP ($3 USD).

Box Review
This ZBox was so disappointing.
A real lack of variety, far fewer items than a regular ZBox and no high value items. Total cost price is $32 USD, although the real value of the Bumblebee stress ball within the UK is lower.
On the positive, I’ve seen other unboxings and many people got a better Lucky Dip than I did. And, I will easily get $15 USD of fun from the stress ball and giving a few items away.
My advice for now. Stick with the (excellent) regular monthly ZBox. Nowhere close to the effort went into the Lucky Dip, and it shows.
