My Geek Box is one of a growing number of geek subscription boxes that ships from within the UK. As such, My Geek Box is aimed primarily at a UK audience, but does ship internationally as well.
Due to an issue with record keeping at My Geek Box, I was never sent the June 2015 box, despite having paid to it, but was promised a replacement. So, when this box arrived there was some confusion about whether this was the June 2015 or July 2015 box. The contents make it very clear that this is the July 2015 box.
Delivery for this box was fast, around 48 hours from dispatch and arriving from a courier firm on a Saturday morning. Everything was well-packaged as normal, with an additional delivery sleeve around the main box, which is good for transit.
The monthly subscription cost is £17.99 GBP (around $28 USD). I have a three-month subscription, which provides a small discount.
There’s no information card provided with this box, but I believe that the theme was Nemesis (but that’s based only on a comment on the Facebook group for My Geek Box).
Box Contents
Project Nemesis T-Shirt
Having done some research, I believe that this T-Shirt refers to Resident Evil, but it could just be a tie in with the overall Nemesis theme. This is a simple design this month, which I can’t find online for sale, so this may be an exclusive.
I value this at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.
Transformers Autobot Shaped Mug
This is unusual, as it’s a square shaped ceramic mug. I don’t know how easy it will be to drink out of.
The Transformers Mug sells for about $12 USD on Amazon.com. It is released by a UK company and you can find it available for around £5 GBP ($8 USD) on UK sites. The reviews for this note that it’s not dishwasher safe or microwave safe.
Terminator 2 Judgment Day Skynet Card Holder
Something of a filler item, but a varied change from some of the filler you get in these boxes. This can be used to hold travel cards and the like.
The Terminator 2 Card Holder is selling for $10 USD on Amazon.com, although that is much more than I’d pay for one.
Davros 10th Doctor Era Figure
This is rather good, a 80mm tall resin figure of Davros from the “Journey’s End” 10th Doctor series. The reviews also suggest that this a limited hand-painted collectible, although that’s not obvious from the packaging.
Davros sells for around $15 USD on Amazon.com.
Hobbit Battle Of Five Armies Azog The Defiler Drinks Coaster
These are hard to find available individually. Selling price is around $5 USD, although I personally wouldn’t buy or use individual coasters as I much prefer them in sets.
Los Pollos Hermanos Hardback Notebook
This is an official Breaking Bad item. I like getting notebooks in boxes as I always have a use from them.
The Los Pollos Hermanos notebook sells for around $14 USD on Amazon.com. Again, I wouldn’t pay that much for a notebook, as I’ve never got into the show, but I know that other people do.

Box Review
Having thought the box contents looked slightly cheap during the unboxing value, I was surprised to see some of the high retail prices for these items.
I make that $66 USD of value at online selling prices. I do think that overstates some of the items, particularly as some of them look like older clearance items, but there is still much more value here than the $28 USD cost price.
I also like it that there are no really cheap filler type items just designed to make the numbers up, which you sometimes get in these boxes.
For me, the best items hands down is the Davros Figure. It’s unusual and well-made. I’d be keen to receive other items from the series in future boxes.
My Geek Box is always fun to unbox and review. There are a lot of very good boxes being released in the UK, and I’ve sent some more links to other UK boxes to check out that I didn’t know about, but My Geek Box is definitely a subscription that I’ll be sticking with.
