I wasn’t terribly impressed with the first Loot Crate box I purchased, mainly due to a very slow delivery process to the UK. But, when the opportunity came up to buy a Loot Crate Mystery Crate, I bit.
The Mystery Crate was a special crate providing items left over from the previous boxes. The advertising stated that this was for boxes from 2014, so I purchased knowing that I wouldn’t get any duplicates. As it transpired, there were some 2015 items, but I still avoided duplicates.
I was much happier with delivery for this one. I ordered on 30 May. The crate was shipped on 8 June and arrived through Royal Mail under a week later.
What did surprise me was how small and light the box was, compared with other geek boxes I’ve ordered recently. I can’t remember if this is the same size as the previous Loot Crate box I ordered.
The cost of the Mystery Crate, including shipping to the UK, was $30 USD, which is about £20 GBP.
As this was a Mystery Crate, there was no information card included.
Box Contents
Halo Mega Bloks Micro Figure
This came in the November 2015 Loot Crate. It’s a mini figure with a Lego style brick inside a plastic case, which serves as a ship.
There’s a few different series of these online. These sell for around $10 USD.
Harley Quinn Mini Poster
This came from the July 2014 Loot Crate.
I can find a larger size of the poster online, but not this one, so it might be an exclusive. I’ll value it at $2 USD.
Hexbug Larva Micro Robotic Creature
One of the more unusual items, this is bug like robot which crawls along the floor using sensors. There are several possible colours. Mine was green.
This came in the February 2015 Loot Crate and the Hexbug Larva sells for $10 USD on Amazon.
ISO Analog 10 Doh Korben’s Alley Figure
This was an exclusive figure, which came with the January 2015 box.
This looks like a NES cartridge, but has a few pieces, such as legs, added, to turn it into a figure.
There were six different exclusive figures available and some of them are selling well on eBay. This particular one is currently on Amazon for around $5 USD.
You can also get these as mystery blind boxes (but not the exclusives) for around $10 USD each.
Mega Man Digital Comics Digital Download
These comics came with the November 2014 box.
There are two issues, so let’s say $2 USD total for value, although the real value of digital comics being given away like this is probably lower.
Simpsons Mighty Wallet
This is a thin wallet that doesn’t have much room for money or cards.
Originally, I assumed that this was made of paper, but reading reviews from the December 2014 box, where this originally featured, I see that this is made of tyvek.
That’s meant to be a material that is light but very hard to damage, so I can see more use for the Mighty Wallet.
The Mighty Wallets in this series are selling for about $10 USD each.
MLG Stickers
I’m not going on put a value on these, as the original item had other components with it.
These are the oldest item in the box. They came with the June 2014 Loot Crate.
Street Fighter IV Game Digital Download
This was provided with the November 2014 box. The stated value is $20 USD, but this is regularly discounted.
Can’t imagine I’ll bother to download.
8-Bit Retro Sunglasses
These came with the January 2015 Loot Crate. They’re quite fun and have UV 400 protection, so are usable in the sun.
I won’t wear them, as I wear prescription sunglasses, but they’re fun enough.
There are lots of designs on Amazon. I’ll value these at the mid-point of $8 USD.
Street Fighter Headband
This is from the November 2014 box and I believe it was an exclusive.
I can’t imagine who would wear it.
I’ll value it charitably at $5 USD.

Box Review
This is a difficult box to evaluate and value as a lot of the items are of the “filler” variety. The type of things that often Loot Crate buyers often put up on eBay.
There are also several digital items, which, whilst interesting, never really carry their own value.
It’s unusual to not have a T-Shirt in a box. Although I do have more T-Shirts than I’m likely to wear, these would have really added to the value.
I get $72 USD of value, which is much more than I expected just by looking at the items. Very good compared to the cost price. Even excluding the digital items, there’s still $50 USD of value.
One interesting point. Looking at other reviews and unboxing videos for the Mystery Crate, I got different items to most. I think that other boxes were better, but that’s the thing about mystery boxes.
As a positive, based on the fast UK delivery I’ve renewed my subscription to Loot Crate and look forward to seeing the next box from them.
