Loot Crate Geek Box Review – October 2015

I made the decision to pick up the latest Loot Crate based on the intriguing theme of Time, as well as a spoiler suggesting that there would be an exclusive item from one of my favourite TV shows, Doctor Who.

The delivery for this Loot Crate was disappointing again. When other companies can ship internationally in a week, this one took nearly three weeks to reach me (plus a couple more days as I had to wait for a rescheduled Royal Mail delivery). In fact, this didn’t even change to shipped status until after some people in the USA had received and unboxed their Loot Crate.

Puts this one on a sour before it has even arrived.

The price for Loot Crate is average for the market. Including shipping to the UK, a one-month subscription costs $29.95 USD (£20 GBP).

Box Contents

Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure T-Shirt (Exclusive)

A great film and a great fit with the box theme, but not the most stylish looking T-Shirt.

This is the first T-Shirt in Loot Crate for a few months and it’s good to see the return.

I value this at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.

Back To The Future Dr. Emmett Brown Funko POP! Vinyl (Exclusive)

One of the best figures I’ve had in a geek subscription box. This reflects Doc Brown at the end of Back To The Future trying to get the electricity supply back to power the Delorean.

As a comparison, the standard Dr. Emmett Brown POP! Vinyl sells for $9 USD on Amazon.com.

This one is an exclusive design and is likely worth more.

Back To The Future Replica Hoverboard (Exclusive)

This is 5″ long and is a 1:5 scale replica of the Hoverboard seen in Back To The Future 2.

This looks rather like a trophy, with a mirrored base and comes in a presentation box.

A good display piece. As there’s little to compare it to, it’s hard to value, but I’ll take a punt at $15 USD.

Doctor Who Sonic Spork (Exclusive)

I haven’t come across the term “spork’ before, but it’s a cross between a spoon and fork.

The holding end is shaped like the handle of a Sonic Screwdriver.

I’m not convinced that a Sonic Spork has ever been seen on TV, but this is a good way to expand the product line.

You can buy various Doctor Who cutlery on Amazon.com. Typically, each utensil costs $10 USD, so I’ll use that as the value for the Sonic Spork.

Loot Crate Mini Magazine And Badge

I’m not going to attach a value to these, but it’s useful to have the mini magazine with details of the items.

Box Review

One of the best curated Loot Crates boxes.

The downside of this box is that there were only four items. The positive – that all four items were exclusives.

Although the T-Shirt looks a little cheap, the POP! Vinyl is excellent and I really like the replica prop and the sonic spork as well.

Much more thought has gone into these items than in most other boxes.

I easily get $44 USD of value here, but the exclusives may be worth more.

Hopefully, there will be a Time 2 next year, which I will most certainly buy, although I hope that Loot Crate can sort out their international shipping.

When Loot Crate is on form, their geek boxes are well worth buying.
