Time for another review of one of the longest established and best known of all the geek mystery subscription boxes.

Despite my mixed experience of Loot Crate delivery, the February 2016 delivery hit expectations, with the box arriving in the UK in under a week from being sent from the US.

The February 2016 contents, all associated with the theme Dead, also arrived in a much bigger box than usual – more than double the size of some other Loot Crate shipments.

The standard price for Loot Crate, including shipping to the UK, is $29.95 USD (£22 GBP) for a one-month subscription.

Box Contents

Deadpool T-Shirt (Exclusive)

I’m pleased to see that Loot Crate have gone back to including a T-Shirt in their box every month. Even better, they’ve come up with some impressive designs.

This vibrant T-Shirt is an official Marvel item, showing Deadpool. It’s produced by the American company Fifth Sun, albeit manufactured in China.

I value this at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.

Deadpool Q-Fig Figure (Exclusive)

Q-Fig is a new line of figures to me and this figure of Deadpool is a Loot Crate exclusive.

This is bigger than the Funko POP! Vinyl ranges often found in geek boxes, explaining the bigger packaging box that this month’s Loot Crate came in.

There were two possible Deadpool Q-Fig exclusives available this month. I got the red version, apparently found in 9 out of 10 boxes. There’s also a much less common grey and white version available, which I’m told is in 1 in 10 boxes.

This figure looks rather like a trophy, coming on a broad base.

As an exclusive, and one pulled from a little established line of figures, this one is hard to value. I’ll rate this along the lines of the Deadpool Funko POP! Vinyls available on Amazon.com, with a price of $12 USD.

The Walking Dead Construction Sets Blind Bag (Exclusive)

This is a rather unusual exclusive.

It’s part of the McFarlane line of collectible items forming The Walking Dead construction sets.

There are all kinds of models, play sets and buildings available to buy as part of this series.

The blind bags, containing collectible 2″ high mini figures are now up to Series 3. There are nine main figures to collect in this series, plus three chase figures.

You can buy the Walking Dead Series 3 Blind Bags on Amazon.com, where they typically sell for $4 USD per pack.

Now, this particular blind bag is a Loot Crate exclusive, but are also listed as part of Series 3 on the packaging. The bag contains one of Rick, Daryl and a Zombie. It’s not clear if these are the same as the three chase figures, or an additional three rare figures.

I’ll stick with the $4 USD valuation, but hopefully someone will clear up the mystery of these exclusive blind bags.

The Walking Dead Soap On A Rope (Exclusive)

I don’t remember receiving soap on a rope since a rather undesirable Christmas present a few years ago.

This is an unusual variant, with four Walker style ears attached to a rope, similar to those that Daryl wore around his neck.

Soap on a rope is commonly available on Amazon.com. This version is not, but has a coolness factor to it.

I’ll take a punt and value this at $10 USD.

Loot Crate Mini Magazine

This useful magazine contains short articles relating to the Dead theme, as well as details about the box contents.

No value to assign, but this is always good to have included.

Dead Badge and The Walking Dead: Road to Survival Bonus Character Download

The badge, based around the theme Dead, comes on a cardboard packing. As a promotional item, this is nice to have, but I can’t assign a value.

The badge also unlocks a bonus character for the The Walking Dead: Road To Survival mobile game, which is a game based around the original graphic novels.

The game is free, although there is usually a charge for additional characters. It’s not one that I’m ever likely to play.

I haven’t included either of these items in the overall box value.

Box Review

This is a decent box full of exclusive items.

I make the raw value $36 USD, falling slightly above the cost price.

One weakness is that there are only four real items (I don’t count the small promotional items), but all of these four items hold some interest. The T-Shirt is particularly strong this month.

Loot Crate has a lot to offer and I always appreciate the attempts to include items not easily found in other geek subscription boxes.
