Infinity Crates Geek Box Review – May 2015

Infinity Crates offers something that few other geek subscription boxes around the world do. That’s personalisation. Every month, some of your items are chosen based on your profile settings, where you list TV programmes and geek items that you like.

The box is shipped from the UK and delivered quickly (mine was shipped using the Royal Mail 48 service, which is actually a 72 hour service, but took nearly a week to get to me due to the weekend and the May Bank Holiday).

The usual box price is £16.99 GBP, paid on a monthly rolling subscription. That’s about $27 USD. As a three month subscriber, I pay £14.99 GBP including delivery, which is very reasonable.

Even better, each box is guaranteed to contain a T-Shirt and a POP! Vinyl.

Unfortunately, my box was missing the card giving details of the theme, but thanks to comments on the YouTube unboxing video, I know that the theme was Loss.

One area where Infinity Crates could improve is with the box itself, which is just a brown cardboard box, with Infinity Crates on the sealing tape. The contents are excellent, but marketing plays a part in helping these boxes to grow their subscriber base.

Box Contents

Batman Inspired T-Shirt

Infinity Crates usually produce several T-Shirts each month, as part of their personalisation. I got the Batman one. This is a nice simple design.

I value these at a standard $10 USD.

Batman Logo Wristband

This looks really cool. Unfortunately, I must have a big wrist as I can’t quite slip this wristband on, but I know lots of people to pass it onto.

Similar Batman wristbands are available on Amazon.com for $6 USD (plus shipping).

Groot POP! Vinyl

This is a companion to the Guardians of the Galaxy POP! I received a couple of months back. This is a Bobble-head, which is always fun.

Amazon.com sells the Groot POP! for around $9 USD.

Mario Inspired Mini Poster

Another exclusive poster. These are small but fun.

I value these A5 posters at $2 USD.

The Walking Dead – Transfers and Car Sticker

These are fun items and I expect are also produced exclusively for the box.

I’ll value these at $2 USD.

Box Review

A good selection of items included as always, including several that Infinity Crates have produced exclusively for the box.

The two big value items delivered and make up the real value for the mystery box.

The Walking Dead items are unlikely to get used and the poster is unlikely to get displayed, but they are fun to unwrap. The transfers are a good change to the stickers in previous boxes and Infinity Crates always employ some talented artists.

Last month, Infinity Crates knocked the ball out of the park. This month, the crate is decent, but not quite as unique as last month.

I cost this up as $29 USD of value for $27 USD shipped. It would cost you more to compile this box for yourself, by the time the shipping cost of individual items is considered.

Infinity Crates is certainly a subscription that I’ll stick with and, for what is a relatively small scale UK based geek box, comes recommended.
