Infinity Crates Geek Box Review – January 2016

The first Infinity Crates arrived without an information card, but I’ve been able to find out that the theme was “Gifted”. That’s an appealing theme, potentially allowing many different characters to be referenced within the box contents.

Infinity Crates originally advertised its box as containing exclusive items based around selected interests. That personalisation seems have dropped off somewhat, although there’s normally something of interest each time.

The biggest selling point for Infinity Crates is the inclusion of a Funko POP! Vinyl and a T-Shirt each month. That’s good value as this is one of the lowest priced geek mystery boxes, selling at £16.99 GBP ($26 USD) including delivery for a monthly subscription. Further discounts are available when signing up for longer periods.

Box Contents

Star Wars BB-8 Droid T-Shirt (Exclusive)

I presume that this is was an exclusive design for the box, although the information card was missing.

I like the grey background and the print is bright, although I’m not much of a fan of Star Wars

I’ll value this at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.

Doctor Who Twelfth Doctor Funko POP! Vinyl

An excellent choice of POP! to include. I already my eye on this one, which shows the current incarnation of the Doctor.

Generally, the more Doctor Who items there are in subscription boxes, the happier I am.

The Twelfth Doctor Funko POP! Vinyl is available on Amazon.com. The standard selling price is $10 USD.

Two Stickers

These are likely exclusives and are Deadpool and Superman logos.

I can’t really assign a value for these though. They’re just there to make up the number of items in the box.

Harry Potter Poster

Again, this is almost certainly an exclusive.

Like the regular Infinity Crates poster, this is long and thin. The simple silhouette design works well for me.

I’ll value this at the standard price I use of $2 USD.

Lord Voldemort’s Wand Key Ring

It wasn’t too obvious to me what this key ring was originally.

Like most key rings in geek boxes, this one won’t get used and I’d be more concerned about getting stabbed in the leg with it.

There are lots of Harry Potter key rings available on Amazon.com.

I’ll assign my standard value for unofficial key rings here of $2 USD.

Darth Vader USB Memory Stick

A useful item. The body of this separates in two to reveal the USB port.

Haven’t used this yet, but based on other reviews, I assume that this has 2Gb capacity.

This is quite a low capacity for a USB memory stick nowadays, but you can never have too many and this is a cool design.

Amazon.com has various USB memory sticks available. Weighing up the capacity and the novelty, I’ll assign a value of $5 USD.

Box Review

The Doctor Who POP! included in this box means that this is a winning box for me.

The value, at $29 USD, is almost identical to the cost price – although this is a better deal when you consider individual item postage charges.

The USB memory stick is also useful to have and a good item to see included. The other items aren’t really for me, but they are acceptable.

I do hope that Infinity Crates can reinstate the information card next month and also include some useful information on it. That’s the main shortcoming of the box this time.

I shall look forward to seeing the next Infinity Crates. Here’s to another carefully selected POP!.
