Arcade Block Grab Block Review – April 2015

Arcade Block is one of the Nerd Block series of monthly mystery boxes. This review is for their special Grab Block sale, which offered the chance to get an extra box filled with items remaining from the usual monthly boxes.

As a sale, this was offered at $28.49 USD or about 19 GBP. That’s a small saving on the usual monthly charge, although as a percentage, this is quite low when the shipping to the UK is included.

The main advantage of Grab Block is the opportunity to get hold of some of the exclusive items missed from previous boxes.

A flaw of the packing process is that I received a non arcade related T-Shirt, which is a shame as there were some excellent arcade T-Shirts in previous boxes (I had my eye on a Mario one which I know other people received in their Grab Block). Each of the Grab Blocks are different, which is a nice change to the usual monthly box.

Box Review

A good selection of items here, with a selection of cheaper and higher value items.

For me, there isn’t one item that stands out in this block, but plenty to keep me amused for the price.

The Zelda toy and Sega badges are rather filler. The Tetris notebook is rather nice, with different sections, all opened up with Tetris style card.

The Sonic Screwdriver T-Shirt is rather a mystery. I’m a lifelong fan of Doctor Who, so the design certainly works for me, but it’s not clear how that ended up in an arcade inspired box.

The Kirby is a fun small item, but will probably end up as a present. That’s one thing these subscription boxes are excellent for, as I never need to worry about finding little gifts for friends, family and children.

The Plague Doctor POP is the big item in here. This comes from the November 2013 Arcade Block. I haven’t ever played Assassin’s Creed, but I know that most reviewers saw this as their big item, so I’m pleased to have received it.

Overall, for me, a good selection of items, although some improvements to the packing would have been possible to keep all the items on theme. So far, I’ve found Arcade Block to be one of the best blocks and I hope that this continues.
