Infinity Crates is a UK based geek subscription box. It’s one of the longest serving of such boxes, although the competition in this space has really heated up on recent months.

The theme for the February 2016 Infinity Crates was Destiny. Thankfully, this box reinstated the information card missing from recent Infinity Crates, providing information about most of the items that were included.

Each box contains a T-Shirt and a Funko POP! Vinyl chosen from a small selection and personalised according to the subscriber’s list of provided interests. The choices offered aren’t always that close to the interests listed, so what you receive clearly depends on what is in stock, but it’s good to see this additional personalisation, which is a unique selling point in the geek mystery box world.

The standard subscription point for Infinity Crates is £16.99 GBP ($26 USD). That includes delivery within the UK. Discounts for longer subscription periods are also available.

The February box arrived safely through Royal Mail, although not until early March (likely due to February being the shortest of the months). The simple packaging did get slightly damaged in transit, but all of the contents were in one piece.

Box Contents

Captain America and Iron Man T-Shirt (Exclusive)

These tend to be exclusive designs for Infinity Crates, so I’ll assume that this was one was too.

This is one of the best T-Shirts I’ve had from Infinity Crates, with a good black argument and a strong two colour print of the superheroes on the front. Certainly one that will get worn.

I’ll value this at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.

Spider-man Funko POP! Vinyl

This is a nicely designed Funko POP! Vinyl and one that I don’t have in my collection. I’m also a Spider-man fan, so I’m happy to have received this.

One thing that does stand out to me is that the costume is a very dark shade of red compared to what I would expect Spider-man to be wearing. It’s very much darker than the box image, for example.

This is also a 2011 release, which is unusual, as Infinity Crates normally ship something that’s recent.

For a price point comparison, you can see the Spider-man Funko POP! Vinyl on Amazon.com. Based on that, I value this one at $10 USD.

Superman Vinyl Sticker

This is a catchy logo, but really it’s just a thin sticker. This is an official item, which is always good.

I’ll value this at the standard filler item price of $2 USD.

Destiny Poster (Exclusive)

This isn’t mentioned on the information card, but again I’m going to assume that this is an exclusive item, as Infinity Crates tend to use their own artist. This is a wide and narrow poster.

Not being a Destiny player, I don’t appreciate the details, but the artwork is solid.

I’ll value this at the standard price point I use of $2 USD.

The Hobbit Badge

Although I’m not a massive fan of receiving badges in geek subscription boxes, it is pleasing to see that this come on backing card.

This is a 25mm (about 1 inch) diameter badge, although the print on this one is rather dark, so difficult to see. This may have been manufactured exclusively for the box.

The information card mentions that there were two possible designs of the badge that could have been received.

No easy guide price for this, but I’ll use $1 USD.

The Walking Dead Card Holder

This is a good card holder and an official item related to the TV show. The other side of the card holder shows a picture of Rick Grimes holding up a gun.

There are various examples of card holders from The Walking Dead available on Amazon.com. I can’t find this exact one, which dates back to 2013.

The pricing for all of these is around the $10 USD mark, although I can’t imagine paying anywhere near that much for a card holder.

Box Review

I get $35 USD of value inside this box. That does potentially over-inflate some of the items which are more filler in nature, but it still comes in above the cost price.

The box benefits from some cool items, particularly the T-Shirt and a decent Funko POP! Vinyl.

It is downhill with the other items and Infinity Crates really needs to add one more item that feels like it has value attached to it. Without that, this just seems lighter on quality items than other comparable geek boxes that are out there.

If you’re a POP! lover, you’ll always enjoy opening Infinity Crates. I do think that this continues to be a box with a sound vision behind it, but the contents do need a bit of a push from time to time.
