Infinity Crates Geek Box Review – November 2015

The November 2015 version of Infinity Crates offered the theme Warrior.

Infinity Crates is a UK based geek subscription box. In its early days, this offered a lot of personalisation of the items provided, based on a list of interests given by each subscriber. The personalisation has been reigned back quite a bit, so although there are some variant items, these are chosen from a small list.

The subscription does include a T-Shirt each month and a POP! Vinyl, both of which are typically chosen from a set of four of each. You can see the different choices available on the information card provided with Infinity Crates.

The standard monthly price for Infinity Crates is also very reasonable at £16.99 GBP ($27 USD) – particularly reasonable considering the guarantee of a T-Shirt and a POP! Vinyl.

The November 2015 box was sent out slightly later than normal, arriving through Royal Mail on the last day of December (as I missed the delivery, I picked this up in early December). Everything arrived in the typical Infinity Crates cardboard box, well-sealed with custom Infinity Crates tape.

The box did contain an information card, but unusually it only contained photos of the typing without any accompanying text (based on the layout, this looks to me like this may have been a printing error).

Box Contents

Deadpool T-Shirt (Exclusive)

This is a “Wade’s Weapon Wares, Canada” T-Shirt, which, after some difficult, I’ve worked out is a reference to Deadpool.

I like grey as a T-Shirt colour and this is a good design. The reference is a little obscure to me, though.

I value this T-Shirt at the standard price of $10 USD.

Luke Skywalker (Hoth) Funko POP! Vinyl

Not being a massive Star Wars, I don’t know too much about this series. There are, as you’d expected, multiple Luke Skywalker Funko POP! Vinyl figures about and this is a recent release.

I believe that this is Luke Skywalker’s outfit as worn on the ice planet, Hoth.

Typical price for this is around $10 USD. You can buy the Luke Skywalker (Hoth) Funko POP! Vinyl on Amazon.com.

Superman Key Ring

This is a very small rubber Superman figure on a key chain, which I’ll value at $1 USD.

There are lots of Superman key rings available on Amazon.com, although I can’t see this exact one.

Batman Arkham Knight Stickers

I’m aware of the Arkham Knight game, but I’ve not played it (it’s rare that I play modern video games).

There are 15 stickers on two sheets. Infinity Crates often include stickers in their boxes, although it’s rare to receive an official set.

These sell for more than I’d expect, around $2 USD.

Marvel Superheroes Comic Poster (Exclusive)

This is much better than the poster included in the last Infinity Crates.

As is typical each month, this is colourful and rather wide.

Here, the superheroes are depicted in a comic format.

I’ll value this at a standard small poster value of $2 USD.

Love Hearts

It’s great to have sweets in the box and this packet of Love Hearts does the trick.

I’ll value these at $1 USD (slightly more than the shop price, but it keeps the calculation simple).

Game of Thrones Badges (Exclusive)

Two interesting badges, which come on Infinity Crates backing card.

I don’t normally like receiving badges in subscription boxes, as they just end up in another box filled with several hundred badges, but there are some cool designs here.

I’ll value these at $1 USD.

Star Wars Lanyard

There’s no markings on this, so I presume that like many of the items this month, this is unofficial.

There are lots of Star Wars lanyards available on Amazon.com.

I’m going to value this at the lower end of the scale, at $2 USD.

Box Review

A valuable Funko POP! Vinyl here, but otherwise, this box is packed full of standard filler items, which is disappointing.

I make this $29 USD of value, which is just above the box cost price.

There is plenty of effort that goes into compiling Infinity Crates, particularly with the items that are made exclusively for the box – as well as the unofficial items that would be hard to find otherwise.

But, the boxes are also becoming very formulaic. Outside of the trademark T-Shirt and POP!, there doesn’t tend to be much left to get excited about.

I’d like to see one more item that looks like it carries value each time. Other subscription boxes are managing to source a lead item of interest, so it should be possible.

I always enjoy receiving Infinity Crates, and hopefully the recent blips with box content will correct themselves over the coming months.
