Although it’s only been in operation for a few months, Sci-Fi Block has quickly established itself as a winning member of the Nerd Block family for Sci-Fi lovers.

The box contains science fiction related items, primarily related to movies and TV shows. Unlike many of the other Nerd Block family boxes, the focus tends to be on providing existing sci-fi items from a wide selection, rather than manufacturing exclusives. That means that different buyers often received a different selection of objects (and also helps to keep the reviews interesting).

Although these boxes have no further themes, I was particularly attracted to this one by the advertising of a Doctor Who item. The box also guarantees an exclusive T-Shirt, manufactured by companion company Shirt Punch, each month.

Shipping from Canada to the UK was record-setting fast, with the box actually arriving before the email notifying me that the box had been sent. Based on the dates on the site tracking the shipping, this looks like it was just a 48 hour journey from when the box was collected from the Nerd Block warehouse. That’s very impressive.

The standard subscription cost, including shipping to the UK is $32.49 USD (£22 GBP). That’s based on a subscription purchased on a recurring monthly basis.

As always, the mystery gear arrived packaged in the stylish Sci-Fi Block box. The box also contained an information card giving more information about the contents.

Box Contents

Terminator 2 T-Shirt (Exclusive)

A cool T-Shirt, inspired by Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

This has vibrant and retro colours on a dark blue background. The image works really well.

A T-Shirt that I’m very happy with and which I’ll value at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.

Multipass DIY Edition (Exclusive)

For all intents and purposes, this is identical to the Fifth Element Replica Pass in the January 2016 Loot Crate.

I wasn’t too impressed with the item then and I’m not too impressed now.

This does come with a blank pass sticker to write on, but no lanyard like in the other version.

I’ll use the same value, of $8 USD.

Doctor Who Top Trumps Tin

This is billed as one of the big items in the box and it’s listed on the information card as a lunch box.

It’s a briefcase shaped metal tin, with a handle. The side of the box makes it clear that this is really a Top Trumps tin and there are two packets of top trumps included inside. The first pack is Heroes and Enemies. The second pack is Stories.

This is a stylish item with a TARDIS print on the box, so it could easily be used for other things (and, as a Doctor Who fan, this certainly will be).

You can buy the Doctor Who Top Trumps Tin on Amazon.com. The typical price is $15 USD.

The Fifth Element Leeloo (Straps Costume) Figure From Funko Reaction

This is one of a number of figures from The Fifth Element that could have been included in the box.

These are small figures, just 3 3/4 inches, but I also like the Retro style.

The Leeloo (Straps Costume) Figure is available on Amazon.com. The typical selling price is $8 USD.

Doctor Who Weeping Angel Cup

The second Doctor Who item in Sci-Fi block is this great looking Doctor Who Weeping Angels cup, which also comes with a plastic straw.

This is a large and heavy cup, which I would guess is intended for cold drinks. It’s made out of heavy plastic, so a good alternative to the disposable cups that you’d typically get with soft drinks. Looking forward to using this.

The image depicts one of the most memorable enemies in the past decade of Doctor Who. Just don’t blink…

There are plenty of Weeping Angel cups available on Amazon.com. I can’t find this exact one, although there is a very similar design intended for hot coffee. Unlike most of those, this one does not come boxed.

Based on the other items, I’ll value this at $13 USD.

The information card suggests that some people also received a TARDIS version of the cup.

Boba Fett Action Figure Print

A neat print of Boba Fett from the Star Wars movies, printed on thin card. Unusually, this design is based on the action figure.

This one is designed by Russ Moore. It’s not billed as an exclusive.

I value this at the standard price of $2 USD.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Rocket Raccoon – Funko Pocket Pop! Key Ring

Although I don’t really value typical key rings, the Funko Pocket POP!s are a bit more like fun items.

This one is also a Bobble-Head.

I’m not a great fan of the film, but this looks cool and it’s one of a number of different characters from the film that could have been received.

The Rocket Raccoon Pocket POP! is available on Amazon.com. The price for this is $6 USD.

Box Review

A fabulous Sci-Fi Block with two high value Doctor Who items.

Just either one of those items would have made this an easy winner for me, but to get both is a bonus.

I get $62 USD of value, almost double the box price.

There’s only one poor item, which is the pass holder. Other than that, the selection of figures and items works well, with a fun T-Shirt to boot.

Time for a game (or two) of Doctor Who Top Trumps!

I do think that Sci-Fi Block is one of the boxes to beat right now!
