Cosmic Toy Box is an interesting UK mystery box, in that it is not new to the market, but also does not seem to be all that well-known (it’s hard to find existing reviews and unboxing videos).

Their main geek interest box is released every two months, but Cosmic Toy Box also offer the opportunity to buy one-off boxes, which they promise will be filled with items from previous Cosmic Toy Box releases and other unique items.

I was able to purchase a one-off box, which arrived safely through a courier company as part of a larger order

The standard price for Cosmic Toy box, including UK delivery, is £22 GBP ($31 USD). The price for the one-off box is the same as the standard box.

The packaging for Cosmic Toy Box is simple, with recycled cardboard packaging used, with the Cosmic Toy Box one-off box logo printed on two sides of it. That approach worked well for this simple box.

The box that arrived was of a decent size, with the promise of interesting items inside.

As a one-off box, there was no information card included and these boxes are not usually themed. There isn’t enough information around to work out which items in the Cosmic Toy Box are from previous boxes and which are new, but all of these items held some interest.

Box Contents

Funko POP! Movies Kowalski (From Penguins of Madagackar)

The big item in this box is this Funko POP! Vinyl from the Movies collection. I’ve not seen the movie, but this is an interesting character, holding both a notebook and a pencil.

The Kowalski Funko POP! Vinyl is available on Amazon.com. The typical value is $8 USD.

Batman Live! Batmobile From Hot Wheels

This is a fun toy car, and is one of a number of versions of the Batmobile released by Hot Wheels.

This version is a blue batmobile in 1:64 scale and represents the version used in the live theatrical show.

You can buy the Batman Live! Batmobile on Amazon.com. The typical selling price is $4 USD.

Lego Star Wars Storm Trooper Key Ring

Although I have more key rings than I could ever use, sometimes you still get a fun one which is a bit different.

I do like this key ring, which is also a mini Lego figure, compatible with the Star Wars sets. It’s also small and light enough to hang on an existing sets of keys without adding too much to the weight.

As an official item, the Lego Star Wars key ring is available on Amazon.com, where it’s reassuringly expensive. The typical selling price is $9 USD.

The Walking Dead – Alice and Shoulder Zombie – Mini Mates Figures

These small scale figures are based around the characters from the original comic book version of The Walking Dead.

This set comes from Series 4 of the Mini Mates Figures and is one of the “short-packed” sets (produced in lower numbers than the other figure two packs).

You can see the Alice and Shoulder Zombie figures on Amazon.com. The typical selling price is $6 USD.

These are interesting items and a good set of figures to have included in the one-off box.

Zombie Novelty Bottle Opener

This is a fun item. It’s not the first Zombie Bottle Opener I’ve had, as I received a completely different (exclusive) design in another box, but the design works well.

It’s also a heavy item.

There are plenty of zombie bottle openers available to choose from on Amazon.com.

I’ll use a lower end valuation from the unbranded bottle openers of $5 USD.

Planet Of The Apes Cornelius Scaler

I’ve had a few of these NECA scalers in different boxes now, and they’re a fun way to liven up cabling.

This 2 inch tall figure depicts a character from Planet Of The Apes.

The Planet Of The Apes Cornelius Scaler is available on Amazon.com. I’ll use a price point of $7 USD for the box value assessment.

The Mocking Dead Comic #1

This is a parody comic, which, as you’d expect, is mostly based on ideas from The Walking Dead.

It’s a Dynamite comic that was originally released in 2013, although I notice that this is from the third printing and it is the first of a five issue mini series.

Looks like a good read.

The cover price is $3.99 USD.

Squadron Supreme Comic #2

This is a recent comic release from Marvel, with a copyright date of February 2016.

I believe that this is a new ongoing series in the all-new all-different Marvel universe. I don’t know much about these characters, although I know that they’ve had series in the past.

From my initial look, this seems like an interesting series, although I may put it to one side until I acquire #1.

The cover price is $3.99 USD.

Skyman Comic One-Shot

This is a perfect fit for a one-off box as it’s a one-shot comic, published by Dark Horse, albeit based on their own take on the Columbia Comics character originating in the 1940s.

Another comic I’m happy to have had included in the Cosmic Toy Box.

This one has a publication date of November 2014.

The cover price is $2.99 USD.

Box Review

Very happy with this box. The contents have a round cost price of $50 USD, which is well above the purchase price.

That value may be slightly inflated as the comics are not all recent issues, but they are all well-chosen and in excellent condition.

It is unusual not to have received a T-Shirt in a geek box, but this is definitely not missed either. And unusually for a box of this type, there are no items that I’d consider as rubbish.

The one-off Cosmic Toy Box offers great value. I think it’s worth taking a punt and seeing what gets included in your Cosmic Toy Box.
