Geek Fuel is a geek subscription box that ships from the United States and has a good size following.

The last Geek Fuel box I reviewed was way back in March 2015. Although I didn’t complete a full value assessment at the time, this seemed like a decent enough box, but there wasn’t enough there for me to warrant a regular subscription.

A Black Friday discount provided a good incentive to pick up the November 2016 box, which didn’t come with a specific theme. The box arrived safely in the UK through Royal Mail, with catchy red packaging and a good heavy weight to it.

The standard price for Geek Fuel, including shipping to the UK is $29.90 USD23 GBP) with a month-by-month subscription.

The box included a large information card with details of the items inside.

Box Contents

Futurama T-Shirt (Exclusive)

A really great T-Shirt.

This one is grey, with a lighter grey image of Bender from Futurama printed over the top (and the bottom of Bender obscured with a vision of New New York).

I’ve always enjoyed Futurama and it isn’t reflected in geek boxes as often as it should be. This is a T-Shirt that will certainly get worn.

I’ll value this using the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Socks (Exclusive)

This is a new format of socks to me, billed as “pair and a spare”. They come in a box reflecting a cassette tape.

There are three socks, two of which are of Rocket Raccoon and a third of Groot. The idea is that you can mix and match.

I know enough people who don’t care anyway if their socks match or not, so I can see this working well, particularly if you’re the type of person whose prone to lose socks, or who gets frustrated when one sock out of a pair gets holes in it.

There are plenty of Guardians of the Galaxy socks available on Amazon.com.

With this being a set of three, it’s harder to value. My standard price for a pair of geek socks is $10 USD. What is the value of a third sock? My judgement here thinks that $12 USD is a fair price for the review comparison.

Batman Mug

This is the first of two mugs included in the Geek Fuel box.

It’s not billed as an exclusive item, but it is an official mug.

I really like this mug, which reflects the comic style of the 1960s live action TV series. I can certainly see this sat on my desk filled with my morning coffee.

You can see various Batman mugs available on Amazon.com.

The prices are quite variable here, but I think that a value of $10 USD is fair.

Wonder Woman Mug

The second mug in the box is another DC comics cartoon styled mug, this time of Wonder Woman.

It’s another good design, although it doesn’t appeal quite as much to me as the Batman design did.

There are a selection of Wonder Woman Mugs available on Amazon.com.

Like the Batman mug, I’ll use a value of $10 USD here, although I can’t see this exact mug available for sale.

Temple Badge (Exclusive)

This is a step up on the promotional values often found inside geek boxes.

It comes on sealed card, with a style very like that used for retro figures.

The badge itself also isn’t overly promotional, although Geek Fuel is listed all over the packaging.

This one is clearly designed to reflect Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. The badge does this rather well.

The packaging makes it clear that this is the first in a new series of badges of this type.

These type of items are also hard to value and sometimes I don’t assign one to this type of promotional item at all. But, as this is both interesting and well-presented, I’ll use a value of $5 USD.

Dandy Game

This is a downloadable game with a unique code available from Steam. The full title is Dandy – Or a Brief Glimpse Into the Life of the Candy Alchemist.

It’s a traditional side-scroller shooting game with fun cartoony candy style graphics.

I don’t provide a value for items like these (particularly as this game is currently on sale through Steam for next to nothing), but they’re fun items to include and great ways to discover new games.

Geek Fuel Mini Magazine and Information Card

No real value to assign here, but I always like it when a box provides a mini magazine like this one.

Unusually, the information card is a separate item again (although there is some overlap between the two, as the mini magazine has a promotional style towards several of the franchises in the box).

Box Review

Excellent value inside this Geek Fuel box. I get a value of $47 USD, which is way above the $30 USD cost price.

There are four items of value (the T-Shirt, mugs and socks) and all of these deliver. I particularly like the T-Shirt, which is one of my favourite subtle designs that I’ve received in geek boxes recently.

The mugs are good too, well-designed, usable and well-packaged in bubble wrap. I can see all of the main items in the box getting used.

The box contained a good number of exclusive items and licenced products. Even the low value items here are interesting.

I’ll certainly not leave it so long before getting my next Geek Fuel box. This box is a good option for fans in the UK and around the world, with a variety that geeks will love.
