Geek Gear is one of the newer UK based geek subscription boxes. I haven’t reviewed them before so decided to check out their March 2017 box, particularly because this came with the theme of Arcade, which offered a lot of potential.

The standard price for Geek Gear is £22.98 GBP including postage (that’s $29 USD). For that, you receive the products in a high quality Geek Gear printed box, with everything arriving safely to me through Royal Mail.

The same company also have other geek subscription box options, including the World of Wizardry box, which supplies Harry Potter items.

The box also comes with a neat information brochure with details of the items, although with the exception of one item in the brochure, none are listed as exclusives. The T-Shirts included may be exclusive, but it’s impossible to tell.

Box Contents

Donkey Kong T-Shirt

I like this T-Shirt a lot. It has a typical screen shot of Donkey Kong printed on a black T-Shirt.

I’ll value this at $10 USD.

Street Fighter T-Shirt

Quite unusually, this box has two T-Shirts in. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not, but the T-Shirt is decent.

The T-Shirt says Hadouken and reflects Street Fighter, probably the most modern game in the whole box.

It’s a nice print on a decent grey T-Shirt.

Again, I’ll value this at $10 USD.

Space Invaders Shoe Laces (Exclusive)

These are an exclusive item. A pair of shoe laces with Space Invader aliens printed on in different colours. I rather like them.

I have had shoe laces in boxes before. As they’re an uncommon item, they’re rather hard to value. I’ll go for $5 USD.

Super Mario Brothers Badge Pack

This is a set of five badges in a sealed pack. The largest one pictures both Mario and Luigi in a pixelated form.

There are lots of Mario badges available on Amazon.com.

I can’t find this exact set, but using the pricing as a guide, I’ll assign a value here of $4 USD.

Tetris Heart Print

This isn’t listed as an exclusive in the brochure, but it is on the back of the shiny print, which is on thicker and higher quality card than most prints of this type.

I’ll value this at $2 USD.

Pac-Man Ice Cube Tray

This tray has 12 compartments to make either Ghost or Pac-Man shaped ice cubes. This is a fun item to have included.

You can see the Pac-Man Ice Cube Tray on Amazon.com.

I’ll value this at $10 USD.

Pac-Man Fridge Magnets

There are 28 magnets here in a pack made by Paladone. This is another fun item.

Being someone who enjoys retro games, I’d be happy to be display these.

You can see the Pac-Man Fridge Magnet set on Amazon.com. The typical value for these is $12 USD.

Box Review

This was a really cool box from Geek Gear.

I get $53 USD of value, which is close to double the cost price. I also like the attention that has gone into this box, including the packaging, the mini magazine and the exclusive item, which is quite unusual for a smaller UK geek box.

In general, I’m not too keen in having two T-Shirts in a box. It’s overkill. But both of these are good designs.

All of the items carry at least some value as well, which is always a good thing.

I look forward to reviewing more Geek Gear boxes in the future. A great addition to the UK geek box scene.
