WWE Slam Crate Geek Box Review – August 2017

WWE Slam Crate is one of the growing number of geek boxes that are tied to a particular company, in this case sports entertainment franchise, the WWE. This crate is also a partnership, so all the items carry the information that this is Powered By Loot Crate.

I’ve liked the previous WWE Slam Crates I’ve seen, although I probably won’t get this every month, just because this is a relatively expensive subscription compared with other wrestling themed crates on the market. This is also a box that is released every two months.

I grabbed the August 2017 box, with the theme Extremes, thanks to a short-term discount offer.

Loot Crate now prices in GBP for orders to the UK. The standard price for a one-box subscription, including delivery to the UK, is £36 GBP ($45 USD). I believe that those prices can change depending on the exchange rate.

The box arrived safely, although unfortunately with the final leg of delivery coming through a courier service rather than Royal Mail.

The box contained a fold-out poster of Braun Strowman, which also doubled up as the information card. I haven’t included the poster in the valuation.

All of the items in this crate were exclusives, which is normally the case for WWE Slam Crate.

Box Contents

Hardy Boyz T-Shirt (Exclusive)

This is a good and eye-catching design, which will appeal to Hardy Boyz fans.

Probably the best T-Shirt I’ve received in WWE Slam Crate.

I value this at my T-Shirt standard price of $10 USD.

WWE Slam Stars Undertaker Figure (Exclusive)

There have been a few of this new line of Slam Stars in the boxes recently, although this is the first box I’ve picked up which has had one in.

This is, of course, one of the best known characters in WWE history.

When assembled, this comes on a ring like mount, which is a nice touch.

There are lots of Undertaker goods on Amazon.com, including other figures.

As an exclusive item, this is difficult to value, but I’ll go along with a standard price for Funkos and the like of $10 USD.

WWE United States Championship Pin (Exclusive)

WWE Slam Crate has been working through its set of belts as pins in each of the boxes.

This one has a good design, although the lower levels belts will presumably be getting less collectible.

As a pin, I’ll value this at $2 USD.

WWE Mini Encyclopedia Volume 3 – Extremes (Exclusive)

This is a small size book with magazine like articles, particularly focusing on profiles of the wrestlers on the cover.

It’s quite a fun read, but it is short.

I wouldn’t normally value this type of item, as it’s like the mini magazines in other boxes, but it is billed as a main component on the information card. Due to the short length, I’ll value it in proportion to newsstand wrestling magazines, at $2 USD.

Rowdy Roddy Piper Towel (Exclusive)

This is a tartan styled towel, looking rather like one of the kilts made famous by Rowdy Roddy Piper.

This is a good functional item and fun to have included.

There are a surprising number of WWE Towels available on Amazon.com.

This is another item that’s very hard to value, but based on other towels, I’ll go with $12 USD.

Box Review

Some interesting items in this WWE Slam Crate.

I get $36 USD of value, which is below the cost price. However, being that all of these items are exclusives, it’s hard to give an exact price.

Five items doesn’t seem like a lot for a box of this size, even though they are all exclusives. In particular, there are two items that feel cheap in the mini magazine and the pin.

The T-Shirt is excellent though and the collectible figure of the Undertaker is fabulous too.

If you like wrestling, WWE Slam Crate is the leader of the official wrestling crates on the market. But I do recommend checking out some of the smaller companies delivering wrestling boxes too.
