Sci-Fi Block tends to be a fun box to look inside if you’re a science fiction lover like I am.

The items tend to be more varied than some other boxes in the Nerd Block family, often even including some variation from one box to the next. There also tends to be a good number of branded items, although not so many exclusives.

The May 2016 box arrived smoothly through Royal Mail, with everything in one piece in the usual Sci-Fi Block box. The standard subscription cost, including shipping to the UK is $32.49 USD (£22 GBP). That price is based on a subscription purchased on a recurring monthly basis.

These boxes aren’t themed, but there is an information card included with details of the items.

Box Contents

Marvin The Paranoid Android T-Shirt (Exclusive)

Yes another cool T-Shirt, reflecting the famous unhappy character from The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy.

It’s always surprising that there aren’t more items relating to this franchise from geek boxes.

Definitely on that will get worn, and I have plenty of friends who’ll appreciate the reference.

I value this at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.

Star Wars Rey Bobble Head

This was easily the biggest item in the box and one in a selection of items in this series that you could have received.

This is a Vinyl Bobble Head and forms part of a series I’ve not come across before. It’s bigger than the standard Funko POP! Vinyls which often come inside boxes.

You can see the Star Wars Rey Bobble Head on Amazon.com. Not one of my favourite characters, but this is a decent item. The typical selling price is $10 USD.

Star Wars Chewbacca Can Cooler

Based on the fur, you might look at this and expect it to be there to keep drinks warm, but this is actually a can cooler.

It’s a fun item and might well get used with a beer (or a soft drink) sometime.

You can get the Star Wars Chewbacca Can Cooler on Amazon.com.

The typical value I’ll use for this is $5 USD.

Star Trek Spock Funko Reaction Figure

These Funko figures, each 3 3/4″ tall, should be really great – and this certainly is a memorable character.

But, once again, this arrived with the plastic separated from the card and the figure loose in the box.

It seems to be a common flaw with this line.

You can see the Spock Reaction Figure on Amazon.com. The typical selling price is $8 USD.

BB On Board Sticker (Exclusive)

Not much to say about this, although it’s clearly a Star Wars reference and it’s a fun take off of the Baby on Board stickers.

I won’t be doing anything with it.

I value this at the standard price I use of $2 USD.

Futurama Print

I like this design and the green tinge works well. You can see the associated Slurm logo in the background.

I’ll value this at the standard price of $2 USD.

Farenheit 451 Book

A classic book (and one that I already own), this the 60th anniversary edition with a forward by Neil Gaiman. The title relates to the temperature at which books burn, so it always feel special to have a copy of this in paperback, instead of loaded onto an e-reader.

You can buy Farenheit 451 on Amazon.com. The book comes highly recommended if you’ve never read it.

The cover price is $16 USD, although I’ll value this at a typical selling price of $10 USD.

Box Review

A good box, with varied items.

I get $47 of value, which is above the cost price and there are certainly interesting items inside.

I really like the T-Shirt and it’s great to get a book inside, even if this is a duplicate for me.

The slight downside for me is that this is rather Star Wars focused, but that’s inevitable sometimes with a box like this. I also would have appreciated an action figure that remained on its card.

But overall, I can’t fault Sci-Fi Block for geek fans who enjoy sci-fi. There are always interesting items inside. I’ll keep dipping into this every so often to see how Sci-Fi Block has evolved.
