Loot Crate is a well-established geek subscription box. It ships from the US.

They offer a variety of themed boxes as well as regular discounts. I tend to subscribe when the discount offers are available and did so for the September 2018 box.

This arrived safely in the UK in a rather small and lightweight box.

The theme for September 2018 was Invaders and the box came with a card with details of the items.

If you are looking to subscribe, the standard price for the UK, including shipping is £24 GBP ($30 USD) a month. That price does alter sometimes depending on the exchange rate as Loot Crate charge in GBP for sales to the UK.

Box Contents

Venom T-Shirt (Exclusive)

Most of the recent Loot Crate (and family) boxes I’ve seen have had Marvel T-Shirts and this one was no exception.

It’s a perfectly adequate design, but doesn’t excite me.

I value this at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.

Predator Bandanna (Exclusive)

It’s a piece of cloth!

No idea who this type of stuff is aimed at, but it might do to cover a surface.

I’ll value this at $1 USD.

The X-Files Notebook (Exclusive)

I think this has hit a new low for a notebook in a geek box.

Tiny plain paper, 32 pages.

I generally find notebooks useful, but no idea why I’d bother using this.

I’ll value this at a charitable $1 USD.

Alien Figure (Exclusive)

The first of two items in the Loot Crate relating to Alien.

This is part of the Loot Crate Alien Services of exclusive figures.

Having opened this up, it’s tiny and unimpressive.

Again, I’ll be charitable, as it is an exclusive and value this at $8 USD.

Alien Pin (Exclusive)

And, the second of two items relating to Alien.

For me, these pins tend to be “why bother?” type items, but this one does have a bit of style to it.

I’ll value the pin at $1 USD.

Box Review

A rather weak Loot Crate. I get $21 USD of value, which is below the cost price.

It is just filled with items that seem cheap and ill thought out, even if they are all exclusives.

The best item has to be the T-Shirt, which will get some wear. The rest are likely to just take up space, or at some point, end up junked.

It is a shame, as Loot Crate have great connections to make interesting items when they want to. But this box just didn’t hit the mark.
