Loot Crate is arguably the best known geek subscription box in the world. It’s certainly one of the longest serving.

I picked up the April 2018 box as part of a discount offer, although it arrived in the UK well into May 2018.

Everything did arrive safely and packaged well, although I notice they no longer provide a mini magazine, instead just giving an information sheet with details of the items.

The theme for the April 2018 box was Artifacts, offering a lot of promise.

If you are looking to subscribe, the UK pricing, including shipping is £24 GBP ($30 USD) a month. That price does alter sometimes depending on the exchange rate as Loot Crate charge in GBP for sales to the UK.

Box Contents

Thanos T-Shirt (Exclusive)

This is an official Marvel T-Shirt, which I presume is intended to tie in with Avengers: Infinity War.

I like the thick T-Shirt with the grey background and the cartoon style illustration works well.

I value this at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.

Lord Of The Rings Frodo Baggins Mini Epics Figure (Exclusive)

One of the most memorable characters in fantasy fiction portrayed here.

This is a large figure released by Weta Workshop, a company I haven’t come across before.

I’m actually having a lot more difficulty finding the original version online than the Loot Crate exclusive version. You can see the available Frodo Baggins Mini Epics on Amazon.com.

I like this figure a lot, but really can’t tell what makes it a variant edition.

Based on the standard pricing for this style of figure, I’ll value this at $10 USD.

Legend Of Zelda Map

This is a map of Hyrule, printed on old style paper. It comes rolled in a cardboard outer.

There are plenty of Legends Of Zelda maps available on Amazon.com.

Based on what else is out there, I’ll value this at $7 USD.

Dark Crystal Notelets (Exclusive)

The first notelets I’ve ever received in a geek box!

Useful as well as interesting. These are notecards with small envelopes.

I’ll value these at $5 USD.

Chalice Pin (Exclusive)

I’m never big on pins and this one in no exception. With that said, as pins go, this is fairly stylish and could easily adorn an outfit.

I’ll value the pin at $1 USD.

Box Review

One really good item and some other decent ones inside this Loot Crate.

I get $33 USD of value, which is above the cost price.

The really good item is the Frodo figure. I do like the T-Shirt and the notelets too. The map doesn’t mean much to me as I’m not a Zelda player.

Where this is a bit disappointing is that there are only four items (plus a pin, which I find hard to count). This does feel an item short, but there was still plenty to unbox.

Definitely a good theme choice for Loot Crate.
