Infinity Crates Geek Box Review – August 2016

Due to a mix up, I didn’t receive the August 2016 Infinity Crates first time around, even though I’ve had a long-time subscription. Once I notified them, they did send the box out, although this was received very late.

The August 2016 box came with the theme of Villains and included a useful information card, printed double-sided.

As a UK box, this is always interesting to look inside, as it’s produced in much smaller quantities than many of the North American boxes. It’s also a box with personalisation, so different people get T-Shirts and POP!s from a selection each month, usually based on a set of supplied interests.

There are several pricing options available for Infinity Crates.

This review is for the main offering, the Classic Crate. This currently goes for £19.99 GBP ($26 USD) including delivery within the UK (I pay a slightly lower grandfathered rate).

There are also three other subscriptions available, including the Premium Crate at £26.99 GBP, the Kids Crate at £19.99 GBP and the T-Shirt Only Crate at £10.99 GBP.

The box was delivered through Royal Mail and, once a box was sent, arrived quickly and safely.

Box Contents

Darth Vader T-Shirt (Exclusive)

A simple T-Shirt showing one of the biggest science fiction villains of all time.

It’s a simple design, but it’s printed on a grey T-Shirt of decent thickness and looks like it will wear well.

I’ll value this at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.

Doctor Who The Silence Funko POP! Vinyl

As a Doctor Who fan, it’s always great to receive new items.

This represents one of most memorable villains from the later series of Doctor Who and forms part of the POP! Television collection.

You can see The Silence Funko POP! Vinyl on Amazon.com. The typical value is $8 USD.

Stormtrooper Cap

I quite like this unofficial design, which has the word Troopers printed on the underside of the rim.

You can see what I think is the same design of the Storm Trooper cap on Amazon.com. The illustrative value is $10 USD.

Team Negan Magnet

This is a round magnet, slightly larger than is typical. It also has the words The Saviors listed at the bottom (yes, with the American spelling).

I presume that this is exclusive, although it’s not mentioned on the information card.

I’ll value this at $2 USD.

Marvel Print (Exclusive)

This is a quite a fun A5 size print featuring Spider-man and Venom.

It’s printed on thin card and I presume that this is by the Infinity Crates in-house artist.

I’ll value this at $2 USD.

DC Print (Exclusive)

The other exclusive print is billed as a DC print on the information card and looks like a mashup of two characters, presumably including Darth Vader.

The clever black and white design works well for this one.

I’ll use a standard value of $2 USD again here.

Frosties Sweets

It’s always great to have sweets included in the box. This is just a small packet, but it’s still a good treat.

The label says that these are Cola flavour, with a chewy centre.

The value for a small packet is just a few pence, so I won’t formally include a value, but good to have these included. More please!

Box Review

With $34 USD of value, this box delivered more than the cost price.

Although this isn’t the highest value of the box, there were several well-chosen items.

The baseball cap is one of the better designs of its type and looks really cool.

I’m also very happy with the Funko POP! Vinyl, which fits in well with my wider collection of Doctor Who items.

Some of the other items are a little cheap, but they come across as better collected than in other boxes.

I continue with my view that Infinity Crates is always worth a look. Any box which guarantees a Funko POP! Viny is great for collectors in the first place.
