I do like to look through Horror Block as the contents are some of the most carefully chosen in the geek subscription box world. They even work for me as a non-horror fan.

I did get the chance to look at the February 2016 Horror Block. The standard price for this box, including shipping to the UK is $32.49 USD (£24 GBP).

This box is advertised as always containing an exclusive T-Shirt and a copy of Rue Morgue (usually the standard edition of the horror magazine, or sometimes a special library edition).

This was shipped quickly to the UK, arriving through Royal Mail and accompanied by the expected information card. A decent amount of weight to this box as well.

Box Contents

The Walking Dead Wings And Skull T-Shirt (Exclusive)

I didn’t immediately get the reference to this as being the advertised item for The Walking Dead, but it’s made clear on the information card.

Not my favourite design, as skulls aren’t my thing, but others will like it.

I value this at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.

Zombie Egg Cup Set

This is a fun boxed item, which comes with a zombie themed egg cup, a spade to be used a spoon and and a toast mould.

I’d assumed that the toast mould was to help with cutting toast, but having checked in more detail, it’s used to press bread into weapon shaped pieces, to be eaten like soldiers.

You can buy the Zombie Egg Cup Set on Amazon.com. The typical selling price is $10 USD.

Zombie Finger Wine Stopper (Exclusive)

This is an exclusive fun item which fits the horror theme, to be used as a bottle stopper for wine.

I’ve typically been valuing these exclusive items at $8 USD and that’s the figure I’ll use here.

Zombie Bottle Opener (Exclusive)

Another exclusive. The drinkers are well catered for with horror items this month.

This is a fun design for a bottle opener and comes in a nice box.

I’ll value this at $8 USD again.

Horror Item Playing Cards (Exclusive)

The December 2015 Arcade Block had a similar set of exclusive playing cards (albeit focused on console style characters).

I haven’t yet opened these, but I’m told that they contain depictions of iconic horror film characters.

Based on the previous box and the fact that these are small and thin cards, I’ll value them at $2 USD.

Rue Morgue Magazine #164

This is always a good read and one that I’m looking forward to diving into.

In my mind, having Rue Morgue is one of the main advantages of buying the box.

The cover price for this one is $10 USD.

Box Review

Good value in this Horror Block. I make this $48 USD of value.

Unfortunately, the same concern I had the previous Horror Block is visible here too. There are absolutely no official or franchised items (even the T-Shirt is just reflective of one worn by Daryl in The Walking Dead).

I do generally like the items, but I’m not sure if all of the household style items will ever get used. On the plus side, there’s no really cheap looking filler in here.

The single best item is the Rue Morgue.

I’m going to put Horror Block on hold for a while (unless a really good value offer comes along), with the hope of the franchised horror items being revived. With that said, you can’t go too far wrong if horror inspired items and collectibles are for you.
