Comic Block is a fun box, containing both comics and items of interest to comic readers.
Recently, there’s also been a good focus on superhero movies. With a new film of that type hitting the cinema nearly every month, that’s probably a good move.
Comic Block is now a box of the same size as the other main Nerd Block boxes, having been relaunched earlier in 2016. The July 2016 box continued that trend, with a decent weight to it.
The box contained an information card with details of the items, as well as $10 of credit for Shirt Punch. I won’t specifically value the credit, as there are many limitations to using it which makes it difficult to value within the UK, but your mileage may vary. Otherwise, as the review will show, the July 2016 box seemed lighter in items than usual (the information card tried to present the credit as an item in its own right).
The standard pricing for Comic Block, including shipping from Canada to the UK, is $33 USD (that’s around £26 GBP). I have a slight discount due to having a long-standing subscription, which is also an advantage to me in sticking with this box.
The box arrived safely, with the final UK part of the delivery coming through Royal Mail. It had, unfortunately, taken a bit of damage in transit, with the Funko POP! Vinyl box being a bit crushed and misshapen (although I’ve now got this vinyl looking largely as this was meant to look). A lot of this comes down to luck based on who handles these geek boxes during their international journey.
Box Contents
Suicide Squad T-Shirt (Exclusive)
This is an interesting design, bringing together features of several Suicide Squad T-Shirts and reflecting the overall skull theme.
Skulls aren’t really my thing, but this is well-made, as with all of these Shirt Punch exclusive line T-Shirts.
I’ll value this at the T-Shirt standard of $10 USD.
Suicide Squad The Joker Funko POP! Vinyl
This is a shirtless version of The Joker, linked to the Suicide Squad movie and was one of a number of possible Funko POP!s from the film that could have been found in Comic Block.
I like the design, although the box for this one got damaged in transit.
You can see the Suicide Squad Funko POP! Vinyl of The Joker on Amazon.com.
Using that as a base, I’ll value this at $10 USD.
Doctor Strange Prelude Comic #1 (Exclusive Cover)
This is issue one of a two issue limited series from Marvel and comes with an exclusive cover.
Unusually for Comic Block, it also comes with a decent bag and board that can be reused too.
From a quick glance, this looks like it’s worth a read.
The cover price is $3.99 USD.
The Punisher Comic #1 (Exclusive Cover)
This is a duplicate from the May 2016 Comic Block.
It is billed as a bonus on the information card, but I’ve no idea why Comic Block would think that subscribers would want the same comic again.
The only positive is that this is an exclusive cover, so it may have some value to it. The cover price is $3.99 USD.
This comes in the dire disposable comic bag often found in this box.
The World According To The Joker Book
This is a cool hardcover book, originally released in 2014.
It’s full of 64 fun pages with stuck-on features like post-it notes, playing cards and even a wheel to spin.
Very glad to have received this one. There have never been many books in Comic Block and I’ve long since been looking for more.
You can buy The World According To The Joker on Amazon.com.
Pricing for this one is variable. The cover price is $25 USD, but I’ll use a typical mid-range value for a new copy of $12 USD.

Box Review
A difficult box. I like many of the contents, but there are several billed items that are rather cheats, including a duplicate comic and the ShirtPunch credit.
I get $40 USD of value, which is slightly above the cost price, although many would exclude the duplicate comic from that total.
The big positive for this one is the book, which is a fun item to own, and Funko POP! Vinyls always have value to them. There are no really low value items, although this box has moved along way from its original focus on comics.
Comic Block can be a lot of fun. Regardless of contents, I always enjoy the unboxing and the mystery. Take a look if this box appeals to you.
