Arcade Block Geek Box Review – March 2015

Arcade Block is a monthly geek subscription box from the Nerd Block family. They release three main subscription boxes for adults per month (Nerd Block, Arcade Block and Horror Block) – each aimed at a slightly different sector of the market and all with some exclusive items.

Many people buy all three of these, so that’s an excellent subscription model to follow and one that I’m surprised that more of the geek subscription crate providers don’t follow.

There are also discounts for subscribing to more than one block. As a monthly paid subscription for Arcade Block, with the discount, I paid $32.49 USD including shipping to the United Kingdom.

Converted to British pounds, that’s about £22 GBP.

Arcade Block is aimed at people who enjoy gaming, which I do, although my taste is particularly retro.

Delivery took about one week from dispatch, although I didn’t receive the box until two days later as I missed the initial delivery.

Box Review

I love this box.

A really well curated selection of goods, including some fun toys, exclusive items and things that are actually useful.

First, the T-Shirts.

Two T-Shirts is rather overkill and I’ve never played Far Cry 4 so missed that reference, but the second T-Shirt from ShirtPunch really works for me.

From the info card, the second T-Shirt is randomly chosen from the ShirtPunch selection (they sell a different T-Shirt for $10 every 24 hours). I would expect to see a push for ShirtPunch in the other monthly boxes as well.

It’s great to have a new comic book to look at and I like the effort that’s been gone into to provide an exclusive cover. The comic came bagged and boarded for collectors.

The stress joystick controller is a great idea. I like to have these lying around on my desk.

Ditto with the post-it notes. I use these all the time and this is a change from the proliferation of notebooks I’ve seen in other boxes this month.

Finally, the torch is fun, but also useful as well. Don’t think I have room for it on my key ring at present, but it will make an excellent gift, and I might just rejig things around so I can keep it. It is an LED torch, which is the in-thing for lighting right now.

All in all, worth the money, no pointless items and delivered promptly to the UK unlike several other boxes I’m still waiting on. Will definitely be ordering Arcade Block again.
